continued thoughts and prayers to your family Joe as your wife continues her speedy recovery! Hopes and prayers that she will be back to her routine in no time and life will begin to return to some sort of normalcy for all of you!

Rob, Sorry for your loss, I went through the loss of my Mom last month. She had been in rapidly declining health but I take solace in the fact she and my Dad are reunited in Heaven. Safe travels back to Ohio and your family is in my prayers.

Really Donn, you need to be more honest in describing yourself! That statement above applies to at least three guys here (myself included!) LOL Donn's DVDs are packed with useful information and his style is perfect as he puts it into terms you can understand. And if you get the chance to meet him at a show, like I did 5 years ago, you will see his passion for helping others!

Box stock Nova Prostreet (RedSled) 3/25
mikemodeler replied to CelticModeler's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks great, nicely detailed. A couple of observations: 1. That grille will look a lot better with a black wash and give it some realistic depth. Dilute some black paint and go to town! 2. A simple scrape of the hobby knife on that "TM GM" will make that chassis look even better. -
To Charlie and Chuck's points, I agree that if the body proportions are spot on and the underhood details are somewhat vague, then I am a buyer of the kit as I tend to display my models with the hood closed. In the case of this car, this was the beginning of the era where engine compartments started to shrink and more "stuff" was crammed in them so reality is that there isn't much to see anyway.

That's a heck of a collection and I will be sure to show it to my wife so she can see others have more than I do! I wonder if he ever let others see his collection? I am guessing that very few people knew about it, other wise he may have left certain cars to them.

Galaxie Car Hauler
mikemodeler replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have that problem too! I have a list of about $60 of wheels/tires and that duallie conversion that I want to order but am currently jobless, so that isn't going to happen! -
not sure which paint you are using, but just follow the basics: 1. Wash the parts you are going to paint with warm soapy water to remove any mold residue. 2. Prime the parts lightly and let them dry for a day. Typically any parts I paint silver I try to do last as they tend to be more likely to be sensitive to smudging from the oil on my fingers. You might want to experiment with different paints (brush/spray and acrylic/enamel/lacquer) to see what works best for you!

You nailed it! The stance, the paint, the details! Really need to get started on the 2 in my stash. -

I think this sums up perfectly why most of us engage in trading! -
White Road Boss Dump Truck
mikemodeler replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Another fine example of your great weathering skills Chuck! Kinda surprised you didn't build a plow hook up for the front of that, it would be likely a big dump like that would be used to clear the county roads! -
Rotator Wrecker Kits?
mikemodeler replied to Birdman44's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The 1/43rd Peterbilt did have the Holmes 750 wrecker bed, nicely done but sure would have been nice to have it in 1/25. That little Ford wrecker looks like a shrunken version of the recent Revell GMC kit! -
MPC 1984 GMC Pickup (Video Review) 2016 Reissue
mikemodeler replied to hpiguy's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Two questions based on the comments above in BOLD : 1. The optional rims, what tires would they work with? I am assuming based on others comments that they don't work with the kit supplied tires. 2. The bench seat, is it available to convert these kits? Even though I have the earlier releases, I plan on getting at least one more! -
Nice start to a great kit. Should look good when you are finished, looking forward to seeing it completed.

Check out Scenes Unlimited, I believe Danny has a fifth wheel hitch that would work perfect for the gooseneck trailer. -

Okay, I started a topic and it turned into mud slinging by a former member who got banned because of previous toxic posts. I will let this stay open unless it continues, in which case it will get deleted. Learn how to play nice or go play somewhere else. -
MENG 1/24 Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab: Sneak Peek Pics!
mikemodeler replied to Gregg's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
If you are in need of one of these kits, Squadron is having a sale on the 1/24 and 1/35 scale versions of these trucks. I saw where the 1/24 was $53 plus shipping, not a bad price! I think the 1/35 was in the low $40's. -
MPC 1984 GMC Pickup (Video Review) 2016 Reissue
mikemodeler replied to hpiguy's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yep, the turn signals need to be filled in. Unless you are good with Alcad, the alternative is to send it off for chroming and by the time you factor in shipping, makes you wonder if its worth it? -

The 81/82 grille differs in appearance slightly, but you are on the right track. The front bumper really bugs me in this kit, I wish they would have corrected it. -
Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
mikemodeler replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I saw on the Stevens International page that they have a 72 F-100 listed as "TBA". I wonder if this will be the long awaited 4WD version or another 2WD? I guess we will find out eventually! -

If you mean from Tower Hobbies, go to their website and look under their specials and there will be a code you type in for the free shipping when you place an order. They also will offer cash discounts on orders, like $15 off a $50 order, similar to free shipping. -
Well, I think the guy that complained the loudest was banned, so that is why it is not that big a deal/
-
Great job on both of them, really like either one as they are done right! I have one in the "half way done" stage with a red that is close to Bolero Red.

My dealings with Al go back at least 4 years ago, but he did deliver the product. It took him a couple of months, partly because I had a large order and also because his job (at the time at least) took him out of town and that made it difficult to cast the tires. He has some really nice stuff, but it does take a while to get it. Not sure what you are after but two other great sources, Scenes Unlimited and Fireball Modelworks offer tires and wheels along with fast service and incredible product.
