Despite the challenges it looks like you nailed it. Very realistic.

Thanks for the advice Randy. I agree with you on the hobby paints not being appropriate for buffing with a moto tool.

Thanks for the suggestions Rex. The junker is certainly, um......unique.

Yup, that is the same Mustang I bought at Walmart and sent you photos of this afternoon. Oh well, I will just keep it in the background in some photo shoot. Thanks Rex.

Well done and looks good. Creative solution to the drip rail too.

Good call on fixes, thank you.

I had to go to Rite Aid for a prescription refill and swung by the diecast rack, surprise. The only thing that looked interesting to me was the Maisto 1968 Camaro SS396 convertible. I was in a hurry so did not look at it very closely till got I home. My biggest complaints are the windshield, the clear insert makes the frame look way too wide. Wondering if I disassemble it I can heat and smash something more appropriate. The antenna is about the size of a walking cane unfortunately. Welly does a much better job with a wire inside the antenna. Typically with the die cast the wheels need to be toned done and detailed. But I did learn something new, Maisto showed me Chevrolet produced a flat 396 V8 for the Camaro, I thought only the Corvair had a flat engine.

Very nice builds.

Thanks Randy for sharing your experience. I have gotten several Franklin and Danbury diecasts via an estate sale but fortunately none in the condition you describe, or they weren't white. Yesterday by coincidence I sorted through all my moto tool supplies and found several cloth wheels so I may carefully give them a try.

My dad had exactly that Buick wagon, color and everything. 455 cubic inch engine which he used to pull a trailer from Ohio to Florida every winter, 8 MPG.

Impressive! -
Very nice build indeed. I built the kit in 1959 and am sure the box art was the inspiration. Luckily I still have it. Thanks for sharing and the memories.

Good looking castings. You know I never noticed the sparse interior in the '53 but then that was 40+ years ago or more. Now before you jump all over me I never widened the fenders, the wood frame rails might not have supported the extra weight of the extra sheet metal. Ha, ha, just kidding.
