  1. The car under the tarp is a Lotus 20 Formula Junior
  2. Great looking Lotus (drop the Caterham). It's a clean build and the paint looks very good, and the engine detailing brings it to life. Very nicely done.
  3. I'd be much more interested if the cab was mounted over the front wheels, where it belongs. Then it would be cool.
  4. Very cool project!
  5. Yeah, me too. It's been too long. Cool photo, btw
  6. Not to mention, the vast majority of battery charging is done by burning fossil fuels.
  7. I built the 1/16 '55 Bird when I was younger. It was my first big scale kit and I was disappointed. It has the same detail level as a simplified 1/25 kit, including metal axels front and rear, the front going through the engine sump. It made a nice shelf model, but the build was simple and straight forward.
  8. … or perhaps Fred's Model World http://www.fredsmodelworldonline.com/
  9. Personally, I am a big fan of wax. Regardless of the shine I get after polishing, I find the sheen provided by waxing amps up the realism. I use Tamiya wax. Wax must always be the last thing you do to a body. Decals, paint, glue, etc won't stick once the thing is waxed. I have never had an issue with wax having a negative effect on decals. In fact, I find it improves their appearance. It's probably worth mentioning here that I rarely ever clear coat my paint, again for reasons of realism. To my eye, clear coated paint generally looks unrealistic, and perhaps that is the reason the waxed finish looks good to my eye. Metallic paints being the exception, of course, but I mostly paint in solid colours. I also polish and wax the kit glass which does great things for improving clarity and reducing optical distortion, and it makes removing fingerprints easy. Just another POV.
  10. Excellent scratchbuilding. Very nicely done.
  11. Good looking build. One of my all time favourites.
  12. Cool! Nice work blending the colours.
  13. Nice lines. The donor roof is a good fit.
  14. Cool. More Lotus! I'll be watching this one come together.
  15. Somehow those examples of wordless box art seem to say more than the full text box tops. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Cool. It will be interesting watching this one come together.
  17. Wow! That's a beautiful roadster.
  18. Not as pretty as the Hudson or Stude, but another 'off the beaten path' pick-up is the Powell. There is a lot of slab siding and few compound curves, so scratchbuilding one should be doable . … and just dig that cool built in fishing rod compartment (though someone has added compartment divisions to this example)..
  19. Very nice. The Pontiac makes a great ute.
  20. Yes, great news indeed. I'm definitely in for one of the RS200s. I am really impressed with the catalogue these guys are creating, especially in the vintage/slightly vintage rally car field. And the rate they are spitting out new tools is impressive as well.
  21. Cheers Snake, that's good to know. I'll keep searching.
  22. I guess I have two bucket list models; - the AMT 67 Mustang Mach 1 show car - and the (potentially mythical) AMT 65 Plymouth Valiant (or Dart) I've almost pulled the trigger on the Mustang a couple of times on ebay, but either the prices or the kit condition were not favourable. And despite reports otherwise, I'm still wondering if the Valiant is a unicorn. It's my grail kit.
  23. I won't buy models at Michael's. The prices are ridiculously high, and I refuse to support a business model that requires me to jump through hoops by using 50% off coupons just to get a kit at a reasonable price. Won't do it.
