  1. I guess if it took so long to get to Canada, just down the street so to speak, that would explain why 207 hasn't reached me in Western Australia close to half way around the world. Any Aussie subscribers got theirs yet? If so, it would be good to know. I'm just a bit toey in general about subscriptions at the moment. Rodders Journal, the best hot rod magazine on the planet, is having serious difficulties with overseas delivery. I haven't received a copy in nearly 12 months, neither have any other countries, including Canada. Gotta love COVID! Patience, grasshopper, patience! Cheers Alan
  2. Whoops - here am I with weeks of clear blue skies and temps in the 90 to 105 degree range - I guess it could be a little grey over your way! Cheers Alan
  3. You must have had a lot of work to get the body looking so smooth! This would like right at home on Aussie streets where Falcons are still very popular. Cheers Alan
  4. I love to see dedicated collections no matter what the theme is. This really is an amazing body of work for one year's production They are all sharp as, but the little white Cobra is soooo purdy! Cheers Alan
  5. Neat stocker - I have built the Falcon and the Buick but I really like the look of your Chevelle. The white suits it! Cheers Alan
  6. What a neat example of an Edmunds supermod! I love the way the Deutz fasteners and the panel lines make this model pop. Cheers Alan
  7. You can never have too many sprintcars! Love the subtle weathering you did on this one - it looks great! Cheers Alan
  8. Hi Fred, yep I'm still here and tickled pink that you have made contact. I always surmised that things weren't going smoothly for you at the time and it is terrific to hear that you are looking positively to the future. I will go and check your Facebook page. Can't wait to see your builds. For those of you who weren't around when Fred had his forum, it was an awesome place for short track guys and this guy makes the best resin parts for dirt trackers - tyres, rims, bodies, you name it. He builds a killer model and on our behalf I would like to welcome him to this forum and hope that he shares some of his models with us - I can assure you, it will be worth the wait! Cheers Alan
  9. Thank you guys - it is nice to hear compliments from your peers, even if you are unlikely to ever meet them in the flesh ( I have met Tim and Tom and we certainly had some stories to tell!). At lunch today, back at work after the break, i realised that I had my last two models photographed and could have had them u on New Year's Eve - it says a lot for an aging memory, huh? The plane, one of only wo I have built in my life, is the Lindberg 1/28th???? Gee Bee racer and I still need to apply decals to the Stoned Hoods and Crooks Willys. Cheers Alan
  10. I was already planning to write how much I liked the two Banditos when I scrolled to the 63 Fairlane 2 door. Wow! That looks stunning. I found a rusty but complete one of these in Edmonton in 1996 and brought it back to Perth for my best mate Dave. It is in paint but has been stalled a while as life for him got very busy. I will be showing this to him for sure! Cheers Alan
  11. Looks like you had a pretty good 2020 if you ask me Tom! Any year that starts off with a Model A can't be all bad. I do like your triplets! Cheers Alan

    My 2020

Going through the 2020 threads, I am blown away by the variety this year. While model magazines, model shows and model manufacturers might be struggling, model builders are going for it. You have a beautiful style here Bruce, and clearly not locked into one particular genre. A fantastic year's work here. Cheers Alan
  13. So cool to see models of cars that we rarely if ever see on this site and done to a really nice standard in a mix of scales. Congrats on a great year's work! Cheers Alan

    My 2020

I am struggling to choose between the Edsel, the Del Ray and the 53 Ford. Man, have you ever mastered the art of subtle! Cheers Alan
  15. Gee you build a nice model, Mike. As a hot rodder I should like the Willys the most but that white 57 Chevy put a big smile on my face. That must have been so cool to drive back in the day. Cheers Alan
  16. Thats nice Charlie, would love to see an outdoors shot as I suspect that colour would really pop! Good luck for 2021! Cheers Alan'
  17. O.K., I'll play! Monogram 32 roadster Monogram 34 coupe Monogram 40 pickup Monogram 30 Tourer Monogram 30 Coupe AMT 56 Ford AMT 57 Chevy AMT 64 or 65 Chevelle wagon AMT 64 or 65 El Camino AMT Double Dragster but man, I could double that in a heart beat! Cheers Alan
  18. You've done an amazing job of nailing the look and the stance of the first photo. These were the days of Pro Stock, not Pro Morph! Cheers Alan
  19. I wouldn't call this "Terrible Box Art", more like a little "whoopsie" that I spotted, probably because I have built three of the kits and have a real 29 roadster in the shed. Check out the blue roadster on this Revell box. On the side panel, everything is as it should be but on the main image on the front, it looks like someone knocked the windshield off during photography and then stuck it on BACK TO FRONT! The bit I can't figure out is that the rear view mirror seems to be on the correct side of the glass - Photoshop? Cheers Alan
  20. Thanks everyone, greatly appreciate the comments, from all over the world. - I still have to take photos of two more models like I promised. I forgot to put up this shot of a partsbox.com dodgem car so I will add that now. Yep, it was a terrific year for me - I just seemed to be on a roll and didn't strike any insurmountable problems. Mind you, a lot of them were fairly straight forward builds but there are a few very hard core, bordering on scratchbuilt models planned for 2021 so I may not manage this output this year. We will see! All in all, 2020 seems to be a record year for may members here. I've loved every minute of it. Bernard, I have been a speedway nut since I was a little kid. Never did build a real speedway car, but I did have a very illustrious career in the early eighties, running third place in exactly two (2) mechanics races in the far north towns of Tom Price ( yep, name of a town) and Paraburdoo. Yep, two races, two thirds, what a legend. Let's just say the guys behind me were bigger chickens than I was! I have about 60 built dirt trackers in my collection and many more planned but my duties as a model columnist for Australian Street Rodding have kept me rather focussed on hot rods in recent years. Bruce, I'm glad you noticed the rolling chassis. All the parts were just lying in front of me while I was building the other Model Ts so I just whacked them together, shot the whole thing in flat black and then added some washes. It was probably built in one hour total, just for giggles. And Tom, Tom, Tom, it is high time you just had a nice cold cup of concrete and hardened up! You are not a real man until you have tackled a Jaymar fibreglass body. C'mon, I dare you! I want to see that thing done, as a dirt track racer to compete against mine, by NYE2021. I started to type "showroom stock replica" but even I can't be that mean! Cheers Alan
  21. Some great cars and trucks there, Pat, but it is always your engines and workshop machinery that grabs my attention. You have a special talent for these projects. Cheers Alan
  22. That should be offensive enough for the purists! Me, I really enjoy the conservative approach to a radical project. Your engine plumbing is very impressive! Cheers Alan
  23. They are all nice and i love the Falcon but wow, that Oldsmobile is breathtaking. What a beautiful treatment of a showroom stock classic. Cheers Alan
  24. Really like the wagon, Nigel. The Datto ute is pretty cool as well, they are very popular over here ( though rare0 and they are in plague proportions in Johannesburg - I travelled there for work two years a go and they seemed to dominate the traffic there! That is an impressive output for one year! Cheers Alan
  25. Nice work Phil! I did a custom very similar to your 39 except I did it to a Tudor rather than a convert. Looks like a lot of us had a good year! Cheers Alan
