Sorry to hear this. He was very funny.

Where is the model? Seriously, outstanding job!

Nice trading with you too! Thanks again!

Really cool! Love the color! I just got one of these first issue 55's on ebay and the guy packed it poorly so the windshield broke on mine too. Luckily, I was able to repair it.

Shelby real or fake?
larman replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, I am thinking he probably paid more than it is worth and is now trying to generate some hype. I was looking and a real '67 GT-350 in perfect restored condition can go as high as 200k. This car is not that. It is a hacked up shell and would probably cost too much to bring it back, assuming it is real to start with (Which I think it is). As a vintage drag car it has NO known pedigree or provenance, so it is a kind of neat collection of vintage parts, but as the guy in the Hot Rod Hoarder video was saying, the patina is almost too perfect and it doesn't appear to have fit any class, except possibly an obscure one in AHRA. So it isn't worth that much as a Shelby or as a vintage drag car, it is the "mystery" or story that seems compelling here and as I said in my earlier post, I am almost sure it is not as big a deal as these guys would like to think it is. The idea that it may have been a wreck turned into a race car seems very plausible after seeing that second video. -

Nice! I should have grabbed one of the Drag City 5 windows, I don't think you can get them anymore. -

A lot of neat projects going on! I really like the chopped 5 window window, the '34 pickup and the Lindberg '32 pickup. -
Nice job! Great to see one built!

Shelby real or fake?
larman replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is certainly a cool car, but I don't see what all the hubbub is about......I think it is a real Shelby, probably the chassis they think it is, but it's pretty cut up for a stock resto and it has no obvious racing provenance. Let's go back to the late 60's when this was built. At the time it wasn't priceless and rare, it was a few years old Mustang (I just saw another youtube video where a guy bought his legit '65 GT-350 for $900 in the early 1970's). The builder decides to turn it into a drag car, doing the mods we see. Tilt front end, set back fuel injected engine, racing seats, etc. He doesn't worry about the original emblems and parts, it's a race car. Unfortunately, either the class it is being built for rapidly changes making it obsolete, or the builder runs out of money and/or interest. The project is halted and it sits in storage for 50 plus years, never making a run down the track. Not so hard to believe. An interesting story and a cool car, but I think it's significance is being exaggerated partially because these guys are fan boys like us, but it also doesn't hurt its perceived value either. -
Another well thought out stunner! Excellent work!

Great paint job and the wheels are perfect for it! Nice old school street machine!

The Moebius Super Stock and AFX Plymouths have the factory exhaust cut-out set up. They are similar to the ones posted above and are nicely detailed. I think the Revell/Monogram '37 Ford kits had glass pack style mufflers.

Nice color, stance and update with the modern wheels! Great job!
-
Nice job! As far as the redlines, just say it is 1965 and on a new set of tires. I almost quit building models over one of these kits, so I commend you on successfully completing it!

He was one of the few guys (if not the only guy) that had a mainstream career with his sitcoms and "funniest videos" shows, that most people know him for and was also a great and respected (albeit blue) comedian. This is a tremendous loss for the comedy world. He was a very funny and talented guy.

Nice work! That color combo looks great!

I had the Mercedes at one point, those were neat little kits!

AMT '25 T Vintage NHRA Competition Coupe, First build of 2022!
larman replied to larman's topic in Drag Racing
The headers were from the parts pack, the engine is from the AMT '36 Ford. The supercharger is from the Double Dragster, the belt/cover is from the AMT '57 Chevy, the 2 port injector came from the parts box. -
I built this over my Christmas vacation time, finishing it up this morning. The original plan was to get both cars in the 2 in 1 kit finished, building a hot rod coupe and stock roadster pickup straight from the box. After looking everything over, I decided to go this way with the coupe, I will modify the stock roadster into a 60's era street rod with an Olds V8 from the AMT '40 Sedan. More on that as it progresses, but it will be built similarly, without wiring, etc.
