  1. I know, it can be tough to decide. I personally would err on the side of more satin than flat, just my choice. Given the age, or lack of, I just don't see them getting too dull under normal conditions, HOWEVER, you raise a good point about field applied finishes and less than ideal conditions and/or supplies available. The photos above BOTH seem to show a satin-ish finish; the first photo less so, but if you notice, it is taken with overcast skies (there are no clear shadows on the ground beneath the plane) and the tail panel still reflects pretty well the available light. Second picture is in full sun, with clear, dark shadows falling. Still fun to ponder!
  2. Oh that is wicked. Some planes look mean; this one and the Heinkel 111 are just menacing sitting still!

It's like a super-detailed Tom Daniel kit! Love the imagination and execution. Well done.
  4. Interesting stuff! You've got me thinking about a bare metal 262 now. That would give the futuristic jet an even more futuristic appearance that had to send chills down the spines of allied airmen who encountered her in the air. Your build is looking sweeeeet, keep it coming!
  5. First thing I noticed, too, is the flat spot on the cam lobe(s). That's a pretty sharp demarcation between the side of the lobe and the top of the lobe.
  6. Very appealing model; just beautiful. Great stance, sharp engine, and correct color! Well done.
  7. Really nice! Nothing at all wrong with how those wheels work on that car. Well done.
  8. PM me if you need a set of those seats some time.
  9. Sometimes, it seems all forums are...
  10. Oh wow, I blew that! I would never thought they (R/M) would have packaged a threesome with one kit in the odd scale to the other two. Goes to show what they say about assuming... Sorry Youpey, seems all the confusion was in my head (a terrible place to store things). Thanks, Snake for the clarification, as well. A friend of mine used to say, "You know, a guy could write a pretty good size book about all the stuff I don't know anything about..." Sometimes, I know just how he felt!
  11. No, not at all. My confusion here is in the contradiction of your first posts: first says you are building the monogram kit, second says you are building Revell kit from the 3-kit box. My take-away was that you thought they were one and the same kit.
  12. Beautiful collection of well built models. Love that snazzy black and gold Comet!
  13. OK, but neither of those is Monogram...
  14. No shortage of B-17 decals available. Search on ebay and your eyes will fatigue from the list! Don't be afraid to try a metal finish, though. Get yourself a decent airbrush if you don't already have one, and you have multiple choices for nice paint finishes. I would recommend the Alclad line without hesitation; lots of metal finishes to choose from.
  15. Just noticed your original post stated a Monogram kit with no wipers, but later you show Revell kits with no wipers. I hope my post didn't add to confusion, was meant to clarify!
  16. Different kits. Your Revell kits are from the days before Revell purchased Monogram. The Revells are 1/25, the old Monogram is 1/24, and Snake45 is right on about it being one of Monogram's best. I believe it has the nicest 1/24 big block Chevy engine ever. The tinted window issue is just coincidence.
  17. Curious, are you going to put a satin clear over this? It looks very flat in the photos, and the Germans used a type of paint that actually had a noticeable "sheen", which is clearly visible in old photos taken in full sun. I remember looking at a restoration of a Bf 109 at Wright-Patterson a few years back and thinking they had painted it too shiny, until I read up on the subject and had my mind changed. Our aircraft paint was much flatter in appearance and aged even more so more quickly. The 262s weren't around long enough for the finish to age much!
  18. Very cool! Really does capture the 70s street car spirit. Well done.
  19. Beautiful!
  20. Coming along very nicely; loving the color scheme.
  21. Yeah, dry fit the chassis to check that you clear the rear lower valance, that panel curves under quite a bit, approaching the rear of the springs.
  22. Still in that area, but has moved across the road from the strip mall you remember. Just check his facebook page for nice directions.
  23. I've had good luck with Evergreen brand H-O scale 2x4s: #8204 - .022" X .043" / .6mm X 1.1mm The little bit of extra thickness gives you something to shape if you don't need flat, sharp edges.
  24. Wow, that looks so right! The roadster that should have been... It really makes a great looking convertible; nice job and great idea!
