  1. Not sure from the picture exactly how the front push bumper was constructed, but I do remember helping a friend construct a low budget push bumper from that era. None of use had any money to speak of but we were resourceful. This one guy we all hung out with worked for Cal Trans at the time. They were changing the way that Stop Lights were tripped at the time and the removed mechanisms were just laying around their yard. He was able to get one, somehow, and that is what we made the push bumper from. These were about a quarter inch thick metal with a 1/2 inch or so black rubber vulcanized to one side. This gave use some metal to weld brackets to and a very hard rubber surface that didn't leave a mark on a chrome bumper. This gives you an idea of one way to construct a bumper 1:1 so maybe you could use that to make something out of plastic sheet material.
  2. Not familiar with Stag Beer but if you can find any past cans, bottles, or printed adverts maybe someone could scan them for you and print some decals that way.
  3. I remember someone hear mentioning that if you rubber band a section of ladies nylons over the end of a vacuum hose this would trap any small parts coming from the carpet. I haven't tried it but it does sound possible I guess.
  4. Great looking paint finish. I like the stance . Very nice Box Art looking build.
  5. For display you might have to get a 1/12th scale dust cover. These old wooden boats are such beautiful looking Vessels. Going to follow along on this build.
  6. I love the Hugger Orange Camaro. My personal '69 Camaro was this color but with the standard black interior. Your interior in this kit is the Custom Interior. This could be had in Vinyl or with cloth seat inserts. The Hounds Tooth inserts in black and white with the black colored interior might be a consideration and then the interior wouldn't look like a deep hole. Your Green '68 Z-28 really looks good also.
  7. Great to see you're doing a build of a car with such a significate history. I have seen several articles about this and the other cars that GM would lease to the Astronauts for a $1. The link that Jantix sent has a lot of very nice detailed pictures. I always wondered about the design with the black paint on this car. I'm sure it had an importance to Alan Bean.
  8. Funny man. I'm thinking I must be the carpet returning something it has been hiding from me.
  9. This color would look good alright. I don't remember this color on the Valiants, that doesn't mean they didn't have it, just don't remember ever seeing it. This looks a lot like the 1965 GM color Iris Mist .
  10. I prefer to apply the decals before clear coating. This will protect the decals as well. Then just wax away.
  11. I'll usually due my own wood treatment on dashes and interior panels. Another idea is to use wood decals. There are several sources for that including decals from one of the Woody Wagons or decals of the bed floor on some pickup kits. Long ago I used one of the Home Supply Stores adds that showed wood cabinets. I would cut the add paper to size and used a little diluted Elmer's Glue to hold it in place till it dried.
  12. I didn't want you to think I was suggesting one over the other, just that Testors carried the color you mentioned that you were considering. I'm a long time user of the Tamiya product line myself but do use some other products when Tamiya doesn't have what I'm needing at the time. Good luck with your builds.
  13. Great looking convertible. The top is the first one I can remember that has realistic looking bows under it. Clean looking details on the trim. Oh and "GO CHIEFS" .
  14. Sorry to see your paint had to be redone. At least you got to redo the Grill.
  15. Love the paint finish and color.
  16. Beautiful looking color and finish. The engine color reminds me of the OEM color that Buick used on their engines for years. You had mentioned flaws, but I don't see any. Very clean looking engine detail.
  17. I hope you cast this one before you painted it. The proportions of the roof and doors in relation to the rest of the body look dead on. The paint application looks great as well.
  18. Check some of your local auto parts stores. That's where I have to get mine now if you want full strength.
  19. I'll use a plastic picnic spoon for testing. This way you know what the color will look like and the rounded shape lets you see how it looks at different angles.
  20. You have been given several very good sites to check out for supplies already. You had mentioned that you have a Hobby Lobby near you and that you were considering trying Testors paints. H.L. has been selling some Testors spray can for a time and Testors does offer some OEM colors as a possibility. Besides the suggestions others have given you might consider MCW as they offer a lot of OEM colors and they will even supply them in spray cans. One thing to remember before you start using any OEM paints that use the same formulas as the original us that they don't always play nice with the plastic bodies. Most builders suggest using some inexpensive plastic picnic type spoons as a test subject before spraying your model. Better to find out just how "hot" your paint is before you craze the model body. This will also give you a chance to see just how the finish will look also. Post you Mustang build so we all can enjoy it as well.
  21. I think that if you're wanting to be as close as possible MCW or some of the other companies that specialize in OEM colors would be the way to go. This would be a little more expensive than off the shelf spray cans but it just depends on how important it is that the color be exact.
  22. After looking at all of the different scribers I think I'm going to have to upgrade what I'm using. For years I have used a couple of tools that look like you might have gotten from your dentist. They have worked well but now I'm thinking that some of these more dedicated tools might be a better investment.
  23. We usually have at least one or two puzzles during the winter months and for me matching the details in the back ground has always been the biggest challenge. As for Jaws, the first time I saw that movie I almost jumped out of the front row of the balcony when the Shark first surfaced. I have never seen a Jaws puzzle but I'll now be keeping an eye open for one. As for these new auto based puzzles I have to agree with you about the lack of cars like the Olds or Buick and especially Pontiacs.
  24. Great looking Rally car. I like all the antennas and the roof rack. The road splash on the body is very realistic looking.
  25. Great looking Camaro.
