Sorry to hear about the damage as this is really looking great at this point. A thought on the Windshield Frame repair. Maybe a very thin strip of Brass on the inside the post out of sight. I would even think about leaving it longer so that it can be glued to the underside of both the body and the roof for additional support.

Major plastic surgery going on here.

I really like the direction of your build here. Very nice looking frame work. The Grill, are you going to have to shorten it ? or rake it even further ?

Very impressive looking collection of Nova's. Most don't realize that these are based on the same chassis as the Camaro and they are great handling cars. When this body style came out I was working at a Chevrolet dealership and the Sales Manager put me in one of the first ones that came in as a Demo. I was the newest salesman at the time so this was an upgrade from the Vega GT I had been driving. Later when I was in a position to drive pretty much what ever I wanted I would often take a Nova LN, SS, or Rally Sport. With the 350 and the F41 Suspension they were great drivers.

Kits in Walmart For Christmas
espo replied to OldNYJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll have to check this out. The Wal Marts in this area haven't carried kits for several years, back when they had the brown checkered boxes. -
Most durable chrome painting option(s)?
espo replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm afraid that with Rust Oleum taking over Model Master that this and many other paints we all use are going away. -
Glad to see you're getting back to this build.

Model A or Deuce Coupe ?
espo replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Either model will look great. I think one has to remember that the '32 has always seemed to have more value and cost more to purchase in any state compared to the same body style in a model A. I think this is part of the reason for so many A's running around with a '32 Grill Shell. Many many years ago a guy I knew traded a '32 Grill Shell that was complete and cherry in everyway straight across for a rough but complete and running Flat Head V8 powered Model A. That was an extreme example even then but it shows just how far some people would go. -
ACE Balsa wood hot rod kits
espo replied to Alan Barton's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Since this is really nothing much more than a block of wood and some glued on side pieces for sanding and shaping, why not just get a block of wood, cutout the general shape you're wanting. Then get some softer thin wood strips to glue to the sides and start sanding ? -
I have been watching this discussion for a time. To my knowledge the Chevrolet Impala included full wheel covers as part of the Impala trim package. The Rally wheels were an extra cost option and were required when ordering Disc Brakes and then the wheels would be 15" in diameter instead of the standard 14" wheels, this was for clearance for the brake calipers. The Rally wheels could be had on any full size model starting in '67. I lived in an area were a lot of people buying or ordering new cars at the time would try and get them with Disc Brakes since brake fade was pretty common in most mountain areas. There were even station wagons with Rally wheels since they were required with Disc Brakes. I even had them on my new '68 Bel Air two door also since I ordered that car with Disc Brakes. The center cap for the Rally wheels was a unique one year only design and not the larger "Hat" type usually seen on later model cars. The AMT '67 Impala SS kit has the correct center cap as does the AMT '67 Camaro kit. They are on the chrome tree, but if you're going for a true showroom appearance you'll want to paint the wheel area, where the slots are, a semi flat silver color. This would be true for any of the following year models as well. As suggested by Oldcarfan27 the Hub Caps from the El Camino kit would be very close to what you would need for a standard and most common Impala. I hope this helps and doesn't confuse.

I would love to be selling U-Joints in his town. Think about the Pinon angle as well as the U-Joints.

Beautiful looking Pontiac. I like your showroom build style and the care in selecting the correct colors. All of the trim is so cleanly done also.
-
I'm glad you included pictures of the "before" as it helps to better appreciate the "after" pictures. You did a beautiful job of restoring this former glue bomb . The colors look great together and the finish is very smooth looking also.

I have been following your build and like how you repaired the windshield posts. My question has to do with the color. Did you use Hugger Orange ? or something close.

I like your body modifications. As for the rear bumper, who says you have to have a rear bumper? You already have a front "roll pan" and it wasn't uncommon to have the same treatment for the rear also. I would suggest having a recessed mounting area for the rear license plate in the rear roll pan. The way you chopped the roof and reshaped the rear window looks great.

Holmes Wrecker chains questions
espo replied to Andrew D the Jolly Roger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In addition to Hobby Lobby and Michael's as mikemodler suggested you might checkout Jo-Anns Fabrics. They also have a jewelry section. I have gotten chains that I have used for pickup tailgates and they have many other sizes. They also have materials that I think you could use to makes cables also. A lot of sizes and shapes plus some interesting tools. I found some perfect "Blue Dots" for '50's style tail lights. -
1/25 scratchbuilt spark plug -- anybody make them?
espo replied to chepp's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I remember someone suggesting that you could create spark plugs in this fashion using round stock. They would glue a section of the round stock in the head much like you would do just using spark plug wires and boots to represent the spark plugs. Then attach the plug wires using the boots. I have tried it a few times and it seems to work well. -
ACE Balsa wood hot rod kits
espo replied to Alan Barton's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Interesting subject. The first "model" I ever built as a child was from a wooden kit of this very type of construction. The kit cost about 10 cents a very long time ago. -
The amazing thing to me looking at this build is the way you were able to "Hinge" everything to open and yet still fit back together. I also like the paint design.

De Foosing the FD-100
espo replied to butter's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking work. I like how you use aluminum for so many of your scratch built parts. As a past owner of two different '56 Ford F-100's I feel that it is the best looking Ford pickup ever and Ford has offered a few. The "Big Rear Window" has to be the most desirable to own or build. I like how accurate the door jams look as well as the tailgate. The bed floor rails add so much depth to it's appearance. -

Great job on adding the moldings. I have started doing this on a few builds and really like how much it adds to the appearance.
