Tom Geiger Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 A great loss to the hobby and a good friend to all on the board! I like that there's a thread or two that he started that are regularly contributed to. It kind of keeps him alive here. And best wishes to his family!
bbowser Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Thanks for the reminder Tom. A loss still felt in our hobby and our little clubhouse here.
Classicgas Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 How long has it been now? A real loss to the forum and the magazine.
cobraman Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I always think of him when I am not putting mirrors on a model. ?

slusher Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 I still think of Harry, every time I come here...

Just finished a build by adding the mirror and saying to myself "This is for you Harry". . . sure do miss having him around here . Happy Birthday my friend .
Agent G Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Harry always loved the rusty mufflers on my armor models. Every time I paint one now I think of him. Happy Angel Birthday Harry. G
Dave Ambrose Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Harry was a good guy. I miss him on at least a weekly basis.
Shelby 427 1965 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 If it wasn't for Harry's constant words of encouragement to me when I was starting out, I wouldn't be where I am today with my skills. He always took the time to message on a build and was always there for advice when needed. Even on build subjects he generally didn't really care about. I often think of him when I work on stuff, because a solid 70% of what I do in my builds now is stuff that he pushed me to try out. Happy birthday, Harry.

mikemodeler Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 I had been going through my PM messages and ran across the ones we sent back and forth as he was fighting for his life. Gave me a chill and brought a tear to my eye to read those words from him and think about how he fought so hard. I miss his contributions he made here and elsewhere to better the hobby. A fine man gone too soon who is dearly missed.
my66s55 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Harry was a pure class act. He was the glue that made everything happen. The forum moderation, never been duplicated. The magazine. I miss him.
peteski Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I actually joined this forum so I could PM him to ask a question (after I found his Bandai Showman's Engine thread in a Google search). He was a super nice guy, and a very talented modeler. I too miss him a lot!
Bugatti Fan Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) Never met Harry in person, but had a number of contacts with him before I drifted away from writing articles for Model Cars Magazine and others at about that time. I found him to be most generous in answering any of.my questions. Shortly before he died he sent me a copy of the book he both wrote and published ' The Evolution of the Automobile In Scale', and I was honoured to be able to review it here in the UK.i The loss of his vast knowledge of the hobby and his layout and publishing skills leave a great void for MCM to fill, as it will be extremely difficult it not impossible for the magazine to replace someone with both model making and professional publishing skill sets combined. Joe Handley Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 He would come into the HobbyTown I worked in a number of times and I enjoyed the times I got to talk with him, every now and then I will see a Blue Mustang with white or silver stripes running around the area, I think of him and occasionally wonder if that may have been his at one time.
Lunajammer Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Admittedly, there were times I'd cut corners on a build and ask myself if this is something important enough that Harry would notice or call out. I think for many who posted on this forum, Harry was, consciously or otherwise, the barometer by which building choices were made.
BaBaBooey Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 After reading this thread I went looking for his work. My GOD what a builder. Any subject matter, very early race cars, ships, wagons, and so on. What a talent.

I also think of Harry whenever I fabricate an alternator bracket to avoid having the dreaded "floating alternator", another of his pet peeves. David G.
Anglia105E Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Happy 63rd Birthday, Harry........ many members on here are missing you, but your skills and wise words live on...... forever........ David
