  1. Really? I was there on Saturday and all they had was a pallet near the toys with the Corvettes, Camaros and 300C's
  2. Thanks to all who took pictures and shared them here for the rest of us who couldn't attend!
  3. Thanks for sharing! A lot of great models and cool to see so many faces from companies I have spent a lot of lunch money at!
  4. I might be in for one of those Camaro's, will wait to see how horrible the body warp is before dropping my $$ on one though.
  5. Yes, but only three weeks in August. LOL! I just returned from SoCal and it was eye opening to see how fast some of those fires developed and spread. My prayers to those in the affected area and hope the winds die down and the firefighters get a chance to put the fires out or at least contain them.
  6. As a member of Ollie's Army, I got an email with a 15% off coupon good for any purchase, so I will be hitting up my Ollie's this weekend to see what is left.
  7. Tell me about it, I went from $50 to $125 in the blink of an eye! And it was worth every penny!
  8. I seem to recall that someone was casting a stock front end (nose piece) for the 1986 MPC El Camino to convert it into a stock appearing vehicle. I have a kit that I would like to build as a regular '86 Elky and if anyone knows of a stock front end, please post it here. TIA
  9. That is very nice and I like the way you finished the interior!
  10. Well in the good old days the model companies could spend money on tons of new tools because they knew they would sell those kits to all different kinds of retailers and end users. Today, that isn't the case and considering it is likely a $100,000 + investment for a new tool, they have to be careful as the market is limited and profits are thinner. Be glad that we are still getting model kits and even if they are modified re-issues, it beats having nothing.
  11. These do build up nicely and fairly easy. I get the subject might not be of interest to you but there could be some young modelers who do find them attractive. I like using the wheels and tires out of kits like this to give an updated look to an older vehicle.
  12. The Revell Jeep Rubicon tires scale out to about 37" if memory serves me right. Danny at Scenes Unlimited used to have some bigger off road tires, if you don't see them on his website, drop him a note, he may be able to cast some for you if the molds are still usable.
  13. Nice progress on this project, love where you are taking it! I was in the garage the other day and came across a kit I have of a Chevy 4x4 van, minus the box and this has me thinking!
  14. I think many of us would agree that this forum has more traffic and meaningful information than the SA forum. Sadly, as Danno pointed out, a previous editor/moderator of the SA forum did a lot of harm and drove away many good people there with his management style. Rules are a little bit looser here (unless you point out the lack of a magazine) and for the most part it tends to be a place where ideas, tips and information about the hobby are shared openly. As far as a magazine, Gregg has his work cut out for himself to get MCM back on a regular schedule. It's been discussed at length so I won't bring up the history but will say that as much as some people want a hard copy to hold in their hands, Gregg has a better chance of success if he goes the digital route.
  15. If these turn out half as good as the bodies you cast, we are in for a real treat! Thanks for letting us know what you have "cooking" in that pressure pot Greg!
  16. That looks nice, digging the color choice! I wonder if flocking the rear cargo area would have covered up the ejector pin marks? I like what you did with the piece of styrene.
  17. Headed in that direction tomorrow, but nothing of interest to me.
  18. So, any hot babes pics you wanna share? LOL!
  19. Sent an email to Norm on 9/20, he responded the next day with prices and availability, including a couple of things that were no longer on his price sheet. Gave him the go ahead, added a couple of extras and he is shipping the order out this coming week. I can't say enough about how he conducts business and the quality of his product. For those of you who question whether or not to order, my experience should put any worries to rest. Norm does things the old fashioned way, but it works and it is worth it. Much like when Don and Carol Holthaus ran The Modelhaus, sometimes not having the fancy website isn't a bad thing. And as a reminder, Norm isn't getting any younger and I suspect if he decides to retire, he will have a similar situation as Don and Carol did with orders, so as it has been said before- "If you see something in resin, the time to buy it is now because it might not be there tomorrow!"
  20. Email them, I have had excellent service from Olson Bros. and good communication. It could be your order slipped through the cracks, maybe it shipped and got lost, maybe they forgot.
  21. That is very nice! I love the details and the way you updated it without going overboard. I have a resin body from Olson Bros to build and need to get going on it, this could be the inspiration to do that!
  22. Stopped at a HL in SC today on my way home. While I did not see any clearance priced models, someone had priced one of the Yenko Nova kits at $22.99 so with my coupon I was out the door with that kit for about $14.50!
  23. Probably safe to say that the struggles of hobby shop survival mirror those of a magazine. While subscriptions help, having a retail outlet definitely help with the sale of a magazine.
  24. I sent Norm an email on Thursday night and he replied yesterday afternoon with availability and pricing. He was able to find a couple of molds for parts previously offered but not on his current price sheet so that made my day!
  25. Yeah, I was guessing that it is a million dollar wrecker. Whatever it cost, it ain't cheap to operate either!
