  1. I saw this at the Walmart in Lancaster PA. Two end shelves with models on. Like Snake said, prices a little high, but not the highest either. Hopefully this exposure will attract new modelers. Jeff Edit, Can't seem to get photos to upload, will try later.
  2. That looks great dino. I was wondering how you were progressing on yours. I hadn't seen any new pics in your build thread. Keep up the great work. Jeff
  3. +1 on this. I too hope you have some available sometime. Beautiful work. Thanks. Jeff
  4. Dimaxion, those are some nice looking Scouts and deserve to be shown on here. I really like the orange one with the old off road Scout decals. Very cool look. Tom, thats a good start on your Scout. The scallops give it a different look. Were they on the real one you almost bought? To bad you didn't get it back in the day. I know it might be a pile of rust today, or maybe not. But they sure are/were fun to drive. Great 4 wheelers and snow plowers. I sure miss being able to drive mine...sigh ?. Jeff
  5. Hi Tom. That was Cargostar in another thread who was going to master some underhood details for Scouts. I had to look up the thread in "on the workbench" to remember it. I was also waiting for him to offer some underhood items. Mine aren't very nice, mostly parts box pieces modified and scratchbuilt stuff that's not exactly to scale. I wouldn't be comfortable having them cast and offered to others.Hopefully, somebody who's a better modeler than I will have them for sale someday. I know I'd probably buy a half dozen sets if they were reasonable in price. Thanks for the compliments. Hope to see pics of your Scouts when you're done. Jeff
  6. Very nice Bronco. Those extra parts look great on there. Nice color choice. Jeff
  7. When I first got into slot car drag racing, I would email my new friend Tom Bagly, who owns Wheatfield Raceway, and would always sign off as Jeff "the Mongoose" Herrman, as I was a fan of the late Tom McEwen. Well, he jokingly shortened it to "Goose" and here I am today. I always figured I resemble a pudgy waterfowl more than a svelte weasel anyway, so I kept the nickname. I've used it in one form or another for most of my hot rod and internet life. I still think some people in the CPMCC club and slot car world only know me by my nickname and not my real name, so there it is, lol. As for the 1957 part, I own a real 57 Chevy and use it's pic for my avatar. Good topic, always like to hear the backstory. Jeff "Goose" Herrman
  8. Nice looking Jeep. Really like the wheels and tires. I have to get some of those someday. Jeff
  9. They look great. I always wanted to try something with the Orange Blossom Special kit. Yours came out great. The Ford looks great also. Thanks for sharing. Jeff
  10. Very nice build. Like the engine swap. Jeff
  11. Looks really good. Your dad must have had a fun Bronco. Like the combo of wheels and tires. It's fun recreating trucks from our past. Nice work. Jeff
  12. That's too cool! I love old school monster trucks, grew up with 'em. Was the biggest fan of Bigfoot and USA 1 in the early days. Your Dodge looks beautiful. You really captured the look with a unique body style. Really like the operating features you built in. Looks like the tires and suspension are from an MPC kit. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  13. That's pretty cool. Is it hard to make a stock one? Is that the Little Red Wagon kit? Thanks. I like the pair of them. Good job. Jeff
  14. Here's my latest International Scout offering. One of the new reissue Scout SS versions. I built it mostly box stock, with a few parts swapped out and a few scratch built parts added. I wanted to model a stock SS version as it may have come from the dealer with a few options. Looking at original sales brochures online, I saw the 1979 one showing a spare tire carrier option for the rear, so I scratch built one out of brass wire and brass shims I had in my parts box. I used the tire and wheel from an original Ertl kit I built earlier, but used different wheels/tires for (my orange one shown earlier). I scratch built a license plate frame and relocated it as shown. I scratch built a side mirror, as the ones supplied with the kit looked more like stock Scout mirrors, not the ones I saw on SS versions. I raided my parts boxes/scratch built parts for under the hood to add some detail and realism to a sparse kit engine bay. I used the front seats from a stock Scout kit, as the buckets that come with the kit seem like they're for the racing version, not a stock SS. Most of the sales brochures showed a rear seat, so it came from the stock kit also. This is my first try at using Future (Pledge) floor polish and I have to say, it worked pretty well. I just brushed it on and it gave a satisfactory clear coat to seal on the decals without a lot of hassle. Overall, this is a pretty simple kit that can be improved upon with the addition of some added parts and careful research. My love of Scouts will always keep me coming back for more. As always, thanks for looking and comments are welcome. Jeff
  15. Thats really cool. Love the tractor. Nice work. Jeff
  16. Nice ride! ? If it was mine, I'd half to build the model like the real one. Really nice Jeepster. Hope you wheel it. Jeff
  17. Nice job on that Ram,.. errrr Trailduster. I like the parts to convert it to a Plymouth. Not something you see every day. Really matches the Matchbox. Good work. Jeff
  18. Looks good. I like the wheels and tires. The murals in the wndows look cool. Good job. Jeff
  19. Thanks for the comments guys. The Jeepster grill is included in the reissue kit, but as stated by others, you would half to modify the front fenders and hood to make one of the earlier Jeepster versions. There are several threads on here that show and tell how to do this conversion. I can't seem to link them on here, I'm on my phone at work, but a search of Jeep Commando on here will find them. I was going to try one but I was lucky enough to find a built up original at my model club swap meet. It was missing a few pieces but luckly, they were among the left over parts from this build and I could restore it. Hope to see your builds when they're done. Jeff
  20. Wow......wow.......wow...... there are model builders, ...and then there are artists. Jeff
  21. Great looking truck. Nice custom touches and paint. I don't see how you have time to build all these cool looking projects. Great inspiration though. Jeff
  22. Looks really good. I like it a lot. All you need is Fred Astaire delivering letters to Santa and telling children the tale of Christmas. Merry Christmas to all, Jeff
  23. Looks like the engine out of the MPC 57 Chevy gasser kit thats just been rereleased by Round 2 as the Spirit of 57 kit. Its the infamous big block/small block engine (big block heads and small block valve covers) Jeff
  24. In theroy, yes. I have not tried it yet, but I have several of both kits to try and do as you are asking. I want to build a model of my real 05 Wrangler and it has both a hardtop and softtop with full steel doors. I could just use the snap kit as it is just like my Jeep, but I think the detail is lacking too much for my taste. The grill on the snap kit is filled in and the undercarriage is too simple for me. Plus, I would like to be able to remove the hardtop if I want to. The Rubicon body is too modified to match my Jeep, so I'll not use it for the build. I have too many projects to finish up now, so it will have to wait. But I'll get to it someday and hope to have a build photo thread for it. Have fun trying, I'll follow along if you do it. Jeff
