That would be my concern as well. I have never had a problem with color match as I have been fortunate enough to paint all body pieces in the first sitting most of the time. Good lighting to view the parts when freshly applied helps a lot.

Revell 1970 'cuda AAR w/body corrections, accurized and detailed
Bills72sj replied to tim boyd's topic in Model Cars
Very nice builds. I was unaware of the issues way back when I built my Pink AAR. I did get the big and bigger wheels upgrade though. -
Street Outlaws Endgame
Bills72sj replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I loved the first few season of the OK guys running in Street Outlaws. The edited drama for the sake of drama with JJ and the ladies turned me off. It got to the point that since I have TiVo I would fast forward until I saw tire smoke, THEN I would watch the actual race lined up. Once I started doing that, I could watch the whole show in 5-10 minutes. -
Has anyone built the black 57 Chevy from Dirty Dancing?

That turned out pretty nice. Do you have a pic of the box art? I am curious if I have that kit.

Wow! That turned out very clean indeed.

Very nice engine detail.

I like how this one is looking.

What AMT C-600 for a car hauler ?
Bills72sj replied to 57peppershaker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
FYI, Ralph hasn't made a post since April. -
Nice quality build in a well thought out background.

I too have fond memories of building one of these decades ago. Early 2nd gen Camaros have always been a favorite of mine. This may be the only race car chassis kit I ever build. As John mentioned the AMT kit, I will do a feasibilty study to see if the bodies could be merged/swapped.

Logical concepts. Especially keeping the detail crisp. I may need to try your technique. I have used foil for masking two tone paint jobs previously.

Canadian Kenworth LW 900

Unique rig build. Following. Does LW mean Long Wheelbase? -
Subject matter is EVERYTHING. Flashy, not necessarily Retro, box art is good to catch my eye but is not a factor on purchase. Price/value used to be a major factor, but as my disposible income has climbed, it no longer is. If I want it, I get it. Whether the contents are spot on accurate has never weighed in if I want a particular kit. Learning of the inaccuracies from the web helps me decide if I want to fix the flaws or not depending on my mood or skillset at the time. Extra wheels, tires and are a nice bonus but I have boxes and boxes of them from judicious eBay purchases in the early 2000's. Regarding decals, Keith Marks or my own printer covers pretty much any gaps the kit may have. Overall. I am simply ecstatic that kits ARE available for purchase. Just imagine if Round 2 never picked up the ball and all the tooling was scrapped years ago. We would all be outbidding each other to obtain a diminishing supply. The new exciting factor for our hobby is 3D printing. 10 years from now we should be able to download a file of nearly any subject and print it on our own printer. All it takes is one person passionate enough put forth the effort to create the file. Hints of this trend can be seen in the mid 70's to 80's cars that are starting to appear.

Nice build. The side marker lights up front and the grille are detailed to perfection. Nice and crisp!

I like this. it is an unusual subject. Any chance of more pics in an outdoor setting? -
Nice WIP in spite of the troubles. I too have had my rattle cans spit on me. I decant them now. I like duplicolor as well but like you, they have priced me out of the market. I have recently discovered Testors enamel bottles at $2-3 each plus some Home Depot lacquer thinner lays down beautifully glossy.

Back in the very early 80's when ethanol gas was first introduced. It was higher octane than the "regular" gas that was offered at the time. I had borrowed my younger brother's 1972 Grand Prix for a day or two. I thought I would treat him to a tank of this new higher octane gas. After I gave it back to him he had trouble like it would just run out of gas. However, the tank was still full. He actually changed the mechanical fuel pump twice (once on the side of the road) before giving up and having it towed to a mechanic. It turns out the mechanic had seen this problem frequently before. The alcohol in the "new" gas would dissolve the previous 9-10 years of varnish coating on the inside of the gas tank. This varnish would then clog the fuel pick up filter "sock" inside the tank and starve the pump of fuel. The car could idle but would die shortly after moving. The mechanic dropped the tank, removed the pickup/sending unit and ripped the sock off. Problem solved.

That turned out beautiful.

Very nice kitbash. I finished my 69 Boss 429 last year. I went metallic gold with the rear spoiler and window louvers. What paint did you use for the valve covers? Mine did not quite come out with the look I was going for. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/162587-1969-boss-429-makes-its-debut/#comment-2419059

Heat shrink for header collectors... quick AND brilliant!?

I too caught this while WIP. The results are impressive. You should be justifiably proud of this one.
