Cool stuff, Dan. I like the aggressive, period style.

Gorgeous Caddy. The dual cowl feature was an interesting design. Your colour choices really make this old classic pop. Nice work all around. I've been thinking about tackling a couple old Monogram and JoHan classics. They always look so good built up.

Nice looking B GT. I see the C1 kit builds up nicely.

More American Graffiti Milner's Dragster new decals
Bainford replied to magicmustang's topic in Drag Racing
Very cool. I loved this kit when in my teens. I still have my original build of the kit, now in need of significant repairs. I may look into those decals for the restoration effort. -
Nice work. The 68 Shelby looks great as a drag car. The green tones are cool, too.

Nice Skyline. The larger wheels fill it out nicely. I like the outdoor pics in the wet. It adds a nice aspect to the photos.

Cool project, Mike. Looking forward to seeing you tackle this one.

Cool! I like the 60s Galaxies too. Love the chrome steelies.

It’s a matter of personal preference, it can go on either way. I find it looks better when applied after clear coat. Good luck. I hope it goes well. It can be frustrating until you get the hang of it. Some guys really dislike foiling, but it’s one of my favourite parts of the build. The model comes to life once the foil is on.

My first thought, also. The texture seems a bit coarse for general painting/weathering, but might just be the cat's meow for a vinyl top.

Looks great. Those decals must have kept you busy for a while. -
Cool project. This will be interesting to watch.

The lady seems impressed. I must agree with her. Nice looking Pontiac. Green save.

Right you are, Mark. I forgot about the Moroso valve covers. And yes, it made for a funny looking SBC. I ended up shaving the letters off mine and using them to make a Moroso air cleaner lid... or at least, tried to.

The Jaw Breaker dragster and John Milner’s dragster used the same chrome tree.

It’s coming along nicely. Interesting subject. You are certainly sweating the details.

That’s exactly what I do when I need a small circle of BMF. I keep a selection of small brass tube punches for that purpose, and others. Some are sharpened on the OD and some on the ID to get a larger variety of sizes. They are handy for punching.005” or .010” sheet plastic, circles of masking tape, punching a circle from a decal, etc etc

I'm not sure I can subscribe to the wisdom of a paint booth design that pulls all of the air born dust in the room past the model while painting it. It may be effective for fume control, but would seem to exacerbate dust issues. The model is on the wrong side of the filter. The logic is flawed. Has anyone experienced this problem?

How often do you guys do models
Bainford replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
About 10 years ago or so I found I wasn't making enough time for modelling. There always seemed to be some pressing chore that needed doing, which made it hard to justify bench time. So, I designated Wednesday night as model night. My job on Wednesdays is to build. Took away the guilt of building instead of chores. I try to take off from work an hour early that day, grab something quick to eat on the way home, and at the other end, push bedtime back an hour so to enjoy maximum bench time every week. During the colder months, I also spend a Saturday or at least a Saturday evening at the bench as well. Some years I find myself with an extra week of vacation time, and I'll spend the entire week at the bench from after breakfast right through to bedtime. I love those weeks. There was a time a few years ago when the company was working on a large project on which I was working a ton overtime, and unable to take much vacation, for a couple years. I took most of my overtime pay as vacation time as well. The following year I took 4 separate weeks of vacation just to spend at the bench, and the next year I took five separate weeks of bench time. I had a big project going on. Loved it. -
I like it! Nicely done. The build has a great old school type look to it. This kit often gets slagged in the forums, and I can see why, but it has been one of my favourites since I was a kid. I built two back in the day, both the Macho Mustang release, and they were two of the coolest looking models on my shelf.

El Camino "super modified" sled puller
Bainford replied to tom pierce's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Cool build. Very nicely done. I love these pulling machines, and really should do a build sometime. I have a set of those same Hot Wheels monster truck wheels that I kept for this same purpose. I see they really look the part. -
That's coming along nicely. Nice attention to detail. I wasn't aware of the extra row of head bolts. Very interesting.
