Ford Bronco and Ranger Are Coming Back!
Jordan White replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They do offer regular and extended cab versions as well, the former available with a long bed. As par for the course, the stylish wheels are on the higher trim levels. Lower models have steel wheels or smaller diameter alloys. -
Now Playing! "The Van," 1977
Jordan White replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found that DVD on a rack in the grocery store of all places, and figured it would be a good watch for a few bucks. It isn't a bad movie, just more of a product of its time. I do enjoy seeing the vans though, and do like the look of the Straight Arrow. -
Ford Bronco and Ranger Are Coming Back!
Jordan White replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Assuming that the Bronco will be based on the Ranger platform, then consensus is saying that they will most likely be building a version of the Ford Everest. Of course, they could very well be creating something different, though I have doubts about a 2-door model resurfacing. -
B.R.B.O. Finished Builds
Jordan White replied to Jordan White's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I just figured it would be fun to see them together. If people would prefer to just post separate threads, by all means. -
Even though I dropped out of this build due to lack of time, I would still like to see what people have completed since I have been following along with some of them. I also feel that the original thread should have stayed, but that is all I'm saying on that matter. Anyways, repost (or post if you haven't already) your completed builds for the Big Rig Build Off!

Find of a lifetime?
Jordan White replied to wrecker388's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My "find of a lifetime" was a NIB 1/12 scale Doyusha Mercedes SLC AMG at a hobby shop in MN (Scale Model Supplies) for only $75. They're going for over double that on Ebay. Of course, this was back when I only knew about the Revell 1/12 kits, which is why it was so exciting. -
Here's the kit box for a view from the front: I don't currently have a pic of the parts from my kit, but they are pretty close to the real thing and come in 8 pieces (2 halves for each beam, 2 radius arms, springs/shocks).

Curious what your reasoning is for making it in 1/6 scale? That will be nearly 3 feet long!

Sweet! How did I not know about this? I've always wanted a full detail H1 kit. Based on the transmission pan, it appears to be the 3-speed 3L80 offered only in 1992 and 1993, so it is the non-turbo 6.2 Diesel. If you were to modify the engine to look like the 6.5 non-turbo, and the transmission to look like the 4L80E, then you could make any H1 up to 1998. If you were adventurous, you could add a turbo system to make the 6.5 Turbo-diesel. If you wanted to be different/weird, you could even drop in a 5.7 gas V8 which was offered in 1995 and 1996. Edit: the only thing tripping me up is from my research, the wagon only offered the tailgate at the rear until 1995, which was the first year for the "ambulance doors".

I would suggest the AMT Bronco since it's the correct scale, and I think it is better than the Monogram front end since it is multiple pieces rather than just one piece. Also, that gen F-150 started in '92, not '91.

I'm very interested in the 1/16 Firebird! How does it compare to the Revell kit?

Think of something like this as a painting. People can try to paint a picture, but it won't turn out anything near what someone with time and skill can do. This is why they pay big bucks for someone else to do it, especially if it's a one of a kind item like in the auction in the OP.

I am now offering 1/12 scale American Racing TTD wheels through Shapeways. These wheels fit the Goodyear Eagle tires that come in the Revell 1/12 Camaro (not the Foose release), Corvette, and Bel Air. There is a little sanding required on the wheels, or shaving of the tire lip to get them to sit properly. I left the back flat so you can choose how to mount them to the kit. Here's a link to the listing. I mentioned it there, but you will need to order the 4 wheels individually, they are printed only one at a time. Pictures are of the white "polished" plastic (it has a bit of a rough finish still, so sanding will be necessary. The clear plastics will be smoother, but more expensive.)

Finally have an update, got the wheels printed and put them in the wheels to check them out. SAM_0214 by mudder_trucker8, on Flickr SAM_0213 by mudder_trucker8, on Flickr SAM_0210 by mudder_trucker8, on Flickr

Yes, this one does have an opening hood and an actual engine. However, the under hood detail is very sparse and limited.

Italeri is asking for new kit subject requests.
Jordan White replied to chuckyr's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
It looks like they could just be spreading out the categories for voting? Who knows, we'll see. -
Which is funny because nowadays, such a thing could be plausable. There are mowers now that have electronically activated clutch mechanisms that engage the mower deck.

There were three hobby shops that I used to frequent when I was younger. There was one off University/47 in Fridley just south of Northtown Mall (can't remember the name) that I would always try to go to after my brother had a hockey game at the Colombia Arena. Then there were 2 HobbyTown USA locations that had great selections. One was also in Fridley near the Ax-Man Surplus store (great store by the way!), the other was in Brooklyn Park on Brooklyn Blvd just east of 81. The latter I believe moved further east down Brooklyn Blvd, however the kit selection has been greatly reduced. Nowadays, I stick to Hub Hobby or Scale Model Supplies for when I don't buy online.
