Race preparation of the #4 Hall-Penske Corvette Grand Sport 005 was completed today and it is now ready for the Sebring 1964/2024 grid. These are the first photos taken with my phone. I plan to do a proper photo shot and an Under Glass post in the near future. I still have not heard the full story on why the Hall-Penske Team taped over the hood louvers and left them that way for the Road America race in September 1964 and Nassau December 1964. Maybe the original reason was to prevent rain getting into the engine compartment but the team must have found it advantageous for other reasons because Road America was a dry race. - ???

These Motobiltz wheels and tires look like a great solution. In terms of 13" vinyl tires -the AMT Tiger has skinny and wide. Here are the Mini-Exotic wheels with narrow tires.

Very good looking Resto-Rod Deuce.

WOW Tim - thank you for asking and allowing my '29 Ford to join this illustrious group of models as it might have done if I had been able to attend the last GSL. This model was built a number of years ago but I always considered it a GSL worthy model. I am a longtime fan of the late Dan Gurney and have built models of a number of cars he raced. This is a model of the first car Dan Gurney raced in a sanctioned event - Bonneville. It was owned by his buddy Skip Hudson and appeared in the background on the first color cover of Hot Rod magazine although there was no mention of the car inside the magazine. I corrected this oversight and created a revised version of that Hot Rod magazine which would have been displayed with the model at GSL.

You are amazing. Have you ever thought of building a full size car? -
The body is now painted with Tamiya TS-26 Pure White so is ready for final clean up, polishing, assembly and surface details. The modifications I made to the body can be seen in these photos. Up front the molded in grill was removed and brake cooling ducts were added to the outboard of this area. The forward edges of the rear fender flares were tapered slightly down the wheelwell opening. Because the hood vent areas will be taped over, I filled in this area rather than installing the complex photo-etched louvers. Out back the molded-on oil cooler was removed. Later two scratch-built differential oil coolers will be mounted on top of the rear fenders. This will be the last WIP post. The next time you see this Grand Sport it will be Under Glass sooner than later.

Very cool. Some great detail like the ejected CD and all the equipment in the trunk.

Gulf Ford GT40

Love GT40's. I bought the Thunder Valley kit 25 years ago but was always intimidated to start it. It is finally now on my build list for 2024. As much as I am a fan of the Gulf livery I plan to build the Canadian Comstock Team GT40. -

Very elegant looking Deuce in this color combination. Hopefully Revell will bring the 3W back someday soon.

The Future of Revell...for 2024 at least.

Since appearing on the Stevens International TBA list there has been no mention of when and if we can expect the re-release of the much desired Revell '32 Ford Sedan. -
Thanks Pierre and Tim for your encouragement. Since completing the chassis which I consider the difficult part I am having trouble getting motivated to get the body finished in fact I started another project which I forced myself to put back in the box yesterday. Hopefully I will start painting the body soon.

All of the under body assembly is now completed. I did have to reduce the height of the distributor to gave adequate hood clearance. There are very few color photos of 005 in 1964 but in the ones I have seen the exhaust appears to be silver rather than white. I can now move onto completing the body in preparation for painting.

I am always blown away by how real your models look as a result of superb craftsmanship, fantastic photography and a great background. I am looking forward to seeing your Mustang up close.

You did a fantastic job enhancing a Danbury Mint model which normally are exceptionally good to start with. -

Garage 56 Camaro - Le Mans 2023
Phildaupho replied to Phildaupho's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Thanks guys - I appreciate your comments. It was a very interesting project. The Garage 56 is now part of history and I assume it will find a home in a museum but when will it again be seen and heard by race car fans?
