  1. Welcome back to the hobby, it looks like you're off to a good start.... or restart. It's like I say in my signature line- "Each kit I build is really only practice for the next one!" David G.
  2. What a cool process! I find all this very fascinating and I'm excited by the potential it presents. Thanks for taking the time to share a bit of it with us. David G.
  3. Nice Funny Car. Good color choice and decal work. David G.
  4. Crazy good work with the decals, the overall build is great too. David G.
  5. Hi Dave. I really enjoyed all the custom work you did for this one, all of it very well done too. I missed this one the first time around, I'm glad you were able to get the photos restored. Thanks for taking the time to do that, it would have been a shame to lose this build and all the work you've done on it. David G.
  6. Thank you Larry Thanks Chris. It's nice to see such a good response to this one. David G.
  7. Thanks, I'm glad you like it. You have to PM an Admin, they can help with that. David G.
  8. Your weathering and detail work are excellent. Very convincing diorama! It looks like Pops ordered the repair part from Hawley's Farm Supply in Wichita in June of '72 and it still hadn't come in by August... of '74 so he just up and bough a new tractor. David G.
  9. A very skilled blending of two resin bodies. Looks Great! I think I might have made it a bread truck.. it does kind of have the shape of a loaf of bread. David G.
  10. Undoubtedly the best built version of this kit that I've seen. There's so much good going on that it's hard to point anything out. David G.
  11. That'll be a tremendous improvement to the interior. I've found that it's the details that most people don't notice that add the most detail. David G.
  12. Thanks Helmut. Yes, I did use Bare Metal foil for the canopy frames. Thank you Carl. I agree, especially the Polar Light snap kits, they're on par with many glue kits for quality, detail and engineering. Thanks Lee. Yes, I still find the idea of painting and decaling that one intimidating. Thank you David. I'm a bit of a Bat-fan myself and I've built several Bat-related vehicles. There's this one, the 1989 version with the accompanying 1992 Bat-Missile, the flashy neon festooned Batmobile from Batman Forever in 1995, The Tumbler and Bat-Pod from the Dark Knight series, A Gotham City Police cruiser, and a 49 Mercury as a Joker Mobile with accompanying figure. I also have the one from Batman v Superman in my stash... with a Green Strawberry photo etch kit. Thank you Bisiaux, I'm glad you like it. Thanks Glen. Thank you Al. Thanks Josh, mine too. Well, this and the one from 1989. To me they're about equal. Thanks Bill. Thank you Chaz. Thanks to everyone for the responses. David G.
  13. As best as I can determine, I bought and built this kit back in 2011, but for some reason I never posted anything about it on the MCM Forum. So I'm posting this thread to correct that omission. For those who may be interested, here is a link to the WIP thread. This was a quick and satisfying build. There were two figures that came with the kit, but I thought they looked kind of dorky, so I didn't use them. I am truly grateful that Polar lights released this pre-painted version. It allowed me to build a good model of the classic Batmobile without having to fight with the tricky paintjob. Not to mention the potential of having to live with the disappointment of a less than adequate model on the shelf. A "pair-o-chutes". I spent some time detailing the screen covers that go over the headlights hoping to add some depth to the detail but it was a complete waste of time. I'm still very happy with the way it all turned out though. And finally, the "cover shot". Of all the Batmobiles, this and the 1989 version are my two favorites. Though it's impossible to keep the dust off this one. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to leave a comment. David G.
  14. At least the run was in the primer and not the paint, much easier to correct that. Excellent color choice! I painted my 71 Charger in the same green, I think Dodge called it Green-Go while the Plymouth version was Sassy Grass. In either case, Tamiya TS-22 Light Green over black primer is a good match. What did you use? David G.
  15. I agree! Aside from the additional work of the techniques themselves, getting the right level of distressing without overdoing it is so much more of a challenge to me than building a model with a "fresh off the floor" finish. There's also a certain level of randomness to the process that to me, adds some artistic feel to it. I do build both ways of course because I don't like to limit myself. Yours is coming along great! I think your decision regarding the interior is a good one. David G.
  16. Beautiful work on the conversion so far! David G.

  18. Beautiful interior and engine detailing, nice paint too. David G.
  19. Thanks Bill. I'm glad that Polar Lights released this version too. It allowed me to build a model of the classic Batmobile without having to fight with the tricky paintjob. I have had the de-luxe box kit in my stash since it was released and I still haven't mustered up the courage to take a swing at it. David G.
  20. Quality work there! David G.
