No, your seller is a numpty! Model boxes are not strong enough to go through the mails, although yours doesn't seem too bad. I've gotten them poorly boxed and dented. I remember years ago on an eBay board, someone was complaining that they bought an antique toy and the seller mentioned the mint condition original box. Same seller just put a label and postage on that mint box and put it in the mail, destroying it's value! Idiots are out there!

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Tom Geiger replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I did paint the Trabbie today! Should be done this week if there are no interruptions. When there were two weeks left in the year, I thought "no problem". I was going to complete the Trabbie AND the Model A Blue Beetle on my bench. Then stuff happened. Someone bought my NJ house. I had little time to get ready for an engineer's inspection. So we went and stayed with my daughter and I spent last week (every day but Christmas!) there taking care of details. At least the weather was good, and the engineer couldn't find any issues on Saturday! Then I got a call on my resume. I actually had a phone interview on Christmas eve, a second one last Friday and again this coming Monday. Wish me luck. We did return home Saturday night, but just to pick up fresh laundry and such. Then we went back to my daughter's on Tuesday for New Years! We got back yesterday afternoon and I didn't feel like doing anything with models. I got back on my horse today. -
Great progress! I'm following. Funny thing- I never knew the Europa was fiberglass! I watched an old episode of Overhaulin' and learned that!

It's the Real Thing...
Tom Geiger replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
since this is getting personal, I'm a Coke Zero guy! ? It would be neat if the decals were of the real car. And I'm sure the guy who owns the real one would be very pleased with that! At least they are selling kits to the tons of Coke collectors out there! I believe they out number us model car guys! -
Hershey to kiss iconic Kissmobile goodbye
Tom Geiger replied to SSNJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's not the greatest product mobile, the iconic one is the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile. That would be a loss! The era of product mobiles started way back in the 1920s or so. Companies had to get their products out there to America before television and even radio. Parades, county fairs and the like. With today's media choices, they are pretty much obsolete. And at least it's going in a museum. -
Jim, here's a bit of inspiration for ya! This is a survivor from my collection. A few years ago a buddy-0-mine gave me this along with another Ford and a Merc (see last photo). He said he knew I'd appreciate and preserve them for what they were, where he feared anyone else would use them for parts! All built by the same guy from original releases. The odd part was that he didn't install any glass! You can see that in the group shot. So upon restoring this one, I polished out some paint runs, added the missing spot light and custom wheel centers. And yes, I did fish glass in there through the side windows! This kit is a great choice to build that faux survivor because there are so many things you can do with it! And so many options in the box! Build on my friend! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Love the Airfix 1/32s! Tiny little kits with all the details (and often more) than 1/25 scale kits! when I was a US military brat in Germany 1969-72, the post exchange never got American kits, just a steady supply of Airfix kits, so I grew up with these little cars! Great work!

A good year! My favorite is the vegetable truck!

I once bought a resin coupe and was dismayed when it arrived that it was just as you described. And to add insult to injury the roof was glued on crooked!

Do you keep your instructions?
Tom Geiger replied to VanSpence's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I sent instructions and box art for very early Valiant kits to Drastic Plastic and never heard from them. -
