  1. A real beauty!
  2. Cool, really works for me!
  3. Nicely done. I'm still blown away every time I look at these cars; how far ahead the styling was. Compare to anything else from 1953, the others look so old...

    75 Torino

Oh yeah! I can almost hear the Parliament/Funkadelic blasting from the 8-track!
  5. Well done; a very clean build. Love the sleeper look.
  6. That was a good read, and a fun build. I absolutely love the '60 Edsels, just some great lines, especially the tail light treatment on the cars.
  7. I like that added detail of graphics continued onto package tray and dash; nice touch! You're getting some nice edges, what's your masking tape of choice?
  8. That blue looks so good on that car! Well done.
  9. That Merc is beautiful, and I really dig the pickup; short beds are for people that don't really need a truck!
  10. Those were the taillights for the Edsel Bermuda, the up-scale model wagon. The Villager, as shown above, uses completely different taillights. Can't bash those kits to make a '59, the fenders, hoods, grilles all different from 58. I've been gathering parts to make a '59 Villager for a while now. I'm using a Jimmy Flintstone '59 Ford wagon, (which uses 90% commonality with the Edsel wagon) and a '59 promo for the dog house. Will have to scratch build taillights and side chrome. I did the body work on my uncle's '59 Villager last year, and that inspired me!
  11. Oh, that's a very appealing model. Well done.
  12. Very cool thread. You're building way more than models here; there are serious memories being made for that little girl that will outlive you by decades. GOOD WORK, DAD! Now, the models are cool, too. I'm really liking the contrast on that 65/66 body, and your geometric graphics are very appealing. You have a definite style for sure. Sorry I can't offer any advice on the chrome vs. molotow, as I have yet to try the pen. Either can be a little delicate to handle. My gut says chrome foil and plenty of clear. It'll hold up well, and maintain the bright finish, where molotow and other paints like it tend to just turn silver when cleared, at least that has been my take-away from this forum. Can't wait to see this progress!
  13. Interesting piece. I painted a similar 56 Chevy that my uncle picked up at a flea market, seller said it was hand made by a guy in Cuba, where he first purchased it as a souvenir. The construction technique is very much the same, especially notable is the way he solders strips of metal rod to define the edges of moldings and stripes, as if he were drawing with steel rod.
  14. You can't beat having an actual car handy to reference! You are off to a nice start here!
  15. That's WAY better, and a nice red to boot!
  16. Man, they look great in red! Love these cars more and more as I look at them; beautiful styling, and your paint on this model really highlights the body styling. Can't wait to see more.
  17. Foil is very malleable, so maybe spend a little extra time rubbing the foil down with a toothpick, dampened to soften the wood fibers. I find that rubbing along the contours of the letters will stretch the metal foil enough to allow it to settle more deeply and fully.
  18. What a fun build! Keep up the good work.
  19. AMT 57 Chrysler radiator ought to be a close fit, if you have one in your stash.
  20. Coming along nicely!
  21. Sweet! A very clean and realistic build.
  22. You whipped it into shape pretty nicely, I'd say. Well done!
  23. Cool project, love the odd subject, and it turned out very nice!
  24. Plowboy, the color scheme of that '59 Edsel is just beautiful, but there's something about that deep red '60(?) pickup that speaks to me. Very nice collection!
