  1. Nice collection, quality builds, well done!
  2. Early post war would be what I've gleaned from various articles. The belly tank builders were scrounging them from the same aircraft bone-yards they got their drop tanks from.
  3. Good point on color, blue and orange are color wheel opposites, so the immediate contrast between the two will change your perception of both. Can't wait to see it come together!
  4. Yep, the connector just provides a secure and electrically isolated passage through the metal firewall.
  5. I don't think I've ever seen one of these built, or even a proper review of it. What are your impressions as far as accuracy of shape, etc. It looks pretty good in your pictures. Yeah, the blue looks a little too purplish, so paint it!
  6. That's not actually the top of the coil you see there, it's a bulkhead connector. Just finished helping my buddy put one in his street machine. There's a wire clipped to it inside and out, and yes, it gets the coil out of the heat, and cleans up the under-hood area a bit.
  7. You didn't mention the appearance of the paint after wet sanding but before polishing. If you see any glossy specs still showing, it'll appear as orange peel, as those were low spots not cut by the sandpaper. BTW, I love Meguiars products for polishing, but prefer no.7 Finishing Glaze for the final step instead of wax. It contains no wax, but man does it make a shine; apply with 100% cotton flannel rag.
  8. Fantastic 2-tone blue. Well done!
  9. I'm surprised AMT never kitted something like this; sort of a Snake and Mongoose vibe, but with fizz!
  10. Not bad at all. Firstly, I admire you for tackling a difficult subject; the '57 Chevy is not an easy car to customize (successfully). You won't find much in the way of reference, well... none you'd want to use. The body is a stylish piece that is simply hard to improve upon. Not impossible, but not easy. I'm liking where the back end is heading, so to speak. I had considered customizing one, but haven't finalized a plan yet, I like to do sketches before cutting plastic. I saw in the rear similar shapes as you, and have intended to French in '59 Impala taillights teardrop fashion. IMHO, the (stock) frontal view is the weak link, and has the most room for improvement; sort of a chrome catfish lip going on there. Your front end is looking nice. Paint will be key in this build. Have you chosen a shade of red yet??
  11. Great deal with Modlbldr, would happily do business again!
  12. Looking NICE! What a clean little driver.
  13. You were pretty prolific, hard to believe you aren't still! The turbine car parked on the street really appeals to me.
  14. Nice conversion! Looks the part!
  15. Those came out very nice! Very well done.
  16. Very nice pair of models; what a nice display!
  17. Cool thread, and looking forward to seeing one on that wrecker build, too! Dig these old kits!
  18. Very nice job, and gotta agree: that color really works well on the big Merc.
  19. How can you have a collection of model cars and not have at least one red '32 hot rod? This is just a beautiful standard for classic hot rods! Very clean and tasteful build, love it!
  20. Wow! I'm not a fan of most pale blues, but that color on that car with that interior just works SO well! Well done, very well done!
  21. Nice collection. I really like the unusual color scheme you put on the Dodge, especially the darker shade of green; really beautiful. I have to say, though, for me your 64 Mercury takes "Best In Show". Is that the AMT Marauder kit?
  22. Glad to hear it! I have one of these kits, and was thinking I might need to watch that area for fit issues; glad it was a false alarm. Poor fitting hoods are a constant pain it seems! ( AMT '70 Monte Carlo, '71 Charger, etc.) Hope my T-bird comes out nearly so realistic, and I hope I didn't sound too critical; was mostly just curious.
  23. The frontal view above, it looks like the hood doesn't settle all the way down at the front.
