Pete J. Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 (edited) I was sorting through my photos trying to make some sense of it and realized that I had done some weird stuff over the years. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing was the mind can do when left to it's own devices. This first one is a cross between an Alfa 155 and a Volvo wagon done as a panel delivery. I was really feeling weird when I created this 6 wheel Honda NSX This was a club theme night moon buggy done in Gulf colors. This kit was a japanese kit that had a pull back mechanism. I had some spare jagermeister decals hanging around so it seemed a natural. I had just finished a 1:12 935 and had this just to brake up the stress of that build. Yes, it is a Surfite, but with leftover decals and some extra Ferrari wheels. I added the fender flares and used the surfboards for a spoiler. This was a work of love! I crossed an AMT Dodge Ram pickup with a Tamiya Ferrari Testa Rossa kit. There is quite a history with this one! Another club theme. Junkyard parts. I had the bits of a P-47 and the Honda F1 car so I mated them and painted it in AAR colors. This one just stands on it's own! My dad was a founding member of the "Black Cats" Squadron in WWII and this was a tribute to him. Another strange one. I chopped the top and made it into a Red Bull Promotional car. The rims are turned from aluminum and Delron. Yes, I like Red Bull(but have never even tasted it!) for the sports stuff they do. There actually is a polished metal P-38 in the collection. Ok, not many Air Force Ospreys out their so why not? Perhaps some of the rest of you will show some of your strange stuff. Edited May 2, 2020 by Pete J.
89AKurt Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Fertile is such a tame adjective. Awesome execution too! The 6 wheel NSX just makes me want to do a Panther 6. I've had rare cases of being weird. Oldsboatbile inspired by the typical sagging springs look of certain GM cars. What to do with two horrid kits, the Tamiya 1/48 scale Swedish S-tank, and the 1/24 Nitto Countach.
stitchdup Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Love the alfa wagon mate and your boat and tank are wild Kurt. How about a mid engined big bedfors lowrider? Or the complete opposite to Kurts boat car but sorta similar, a jag xj220 powerboat and finally a blower bentley hot rod pick up

Joe Handley Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Here’s an odd one I was working on a while back, a chopped and section GMC A-Team Van channeled over 2 C-5 Vette chassis, Like Jay Leno’s ‘66 Olds Toronado......just minus all the boost! And my concept drawing for it.
DrKerry Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Ain’t nothing wrong with weird!! Didn’t ya know weird is the new kool!? You’ve built some kool stuff for sure!!
David G. Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Very cool builds there! I remember seeing the one with the egg-planes bursting from the nest posted on this board. David G.
TarheelRick Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Here is one I started a couple years ago, but decided it would be a long term project because of my developing vision of a finished project - a cabover Ranchero with "mega-horsepower" in the bed. The custom front is from the 69 Corvair, the custom rear is from a '61 Ford Styline kit. Tires will be from one of the AMT curbside :weird" kits, the tread is imprinted with AMT.
DrKerry Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 One of mine. I have more but no pics of them right now... Seedy Speedster built from a Parakeet bird feeder and a Ferrari F40.

(sic) Since you live in Scotland, have to ask, do boat drivers sit on the "wrong" side there too, or are they on the left? I have a WIP hidden deep in my stash, the Allison engine is a resin Replicas & Miniatures of MD of the AMT parts pack, and the Bugatti Royal, call it Bigatti.

They sit on the inside mate, the outside is a bit wet and they struggle to hold their breath that long, lol

Gramps46 Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 My 6th grade teacher said I lacked imagination. I guess she was right as this fantasy racing Club de Mer is about as wild as I got. Pretty boring.
peteski Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Very creative and fun stuff everyone! Now I just wish that people would not quote posts with lots of large photos, just to add "this is what I hoped for", or "nice stuff". Come on, my finger is sore from spinning the scroll thumbwheel!! Plus, I just saw all those photos few posts earlier! Just like in the days of renting VHS tapes, remember "be kind, please rewind". Be kind, don't quote long posts, just to add a 1-liner. unclescott58 Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 A lot of fun stuff. I especially like the egg Thunderbirds leaving the nest. But, in general all of the above are pretty cool. Keep on thinking out of the box.
iamsuperdan Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Some very cool stuff here. That Alfa wagon is just awesome.
