Hi there,

I got this rare old Jo-Han kit on Ebay UK some months ago.

The seller stated "sold as seen", unfortunately his images did not show this:

So I had to take care of the repair job first because if I had failed, I wouldn't have needed to even "start" with the kit.

This is how I did it:

Quite satisfied with the result, given the initial situation:

As regards the rest of the kit, it was complete and also contained the stock wheels and tyres. Despite some work on them, I couldn't get them to look good or "right". That's why I decided to use Pegasus five-spokes along with tyres from an AMT "Customs & Competion" set. I was quite please with the result, a nice, low custom look.

The paint, by the way, is the result of around 20 layers on top of each other. Starting with Tamiya white primer, then using Mica Silver, Clear Orange on top of that and clear coat to seal it.

Anyway, this is what it looks like:

Love it !! ???

They were such a great looking car. All they need is a nice set of wheels and sharp paint to make a showstopper and you nailed it.

Wow, this thing looks so real thanks to your excellent photography and building skills. I really miss these Jo-Han kits. They had a great selection of models. It's really sad that the molds did not survived.

Very nice Caddy Thomas. Colour is killer, and I like your wheel choice. I have one of these in the stash and it’s getting closer to top! Great looking cars.

Hi Thomas!

What a rescue, bravo!

This design is, IMHO, one of the most elegant 60's icon. Your color combo and finish work pays justice to it.

Your deep dish wheels choice is a bit visually unusual, because the FWD system on that car required high offset wheels, like on the Toronado. Did-you have to narrow the "track" to get them to fit inside the fenders?

Just curious...

Very nice model. The A-pillar repair was also done well.  I like the color too.  Too bad the stock wheels weren't usable, but the wheels you chose do look good on this car.

What did you use for the "chrome" foil?

In addition to the great looking paint work your save on the A pillar looks like it never happened. The Wheel and Tire upgrade looks far more interesting than the stockers.

I´m speechless! That might be the most beautiful build of this kit I've ever seen! The wheel/tire combo, the paint and the stunning foil work takes it over the top! Awesome!

I still have a ´70 kit in my stash, hopefully it will turn out half as nice...

How cool where these cars? That 3/4 view from the rear is just stunning! Beautiful work! I love the finish and your foil work is first rate.
