Thanks, but it looks like you've already done a really clean job of removing the exhausts. I did mine entirely with a Xacto knife, and it left a lot of scratches in the floor that needed filling.

The red is looking GOOD!

That film is ikonic! I loved watching the Cobra and Daytona fight it out. Good work on opening those doors. The hinges always pose a challange to me, so I'll be watching your take on it with interest. Nice work on the side grills too - they're much better now! Agreed - all Revell of Germany side entry boxes are the work of the devil.

Very nice Merc. Are the 'SLK' and 'AMG' scripts on the back photoetched parts? Are they included with the Aoshima kit?

Nice work on opening the doors. The paint does not look too bad in the pictures.

I can't help with the correct spec of R Code models, but I'd like to say this project is looking good! Great idea with those headlights, and removing that exhaust is a good move too. I have this kit on my work bench right now, so will be watching your progress with interest. With regards to the clear headlamp covers, its something I was thinking of creating by vac forming.

Looking good! Is that a fuel tank from another kit?

Great to see you giving an old model a whole new life Scott. I agree - there is something about the challenge of re-using old glue bombs. I like the wire wheels. Where did you get them from?

How cool to see one of these built up as a street car. I love it!

This is stunning! So realistic.

A little more progress here. The hinges work nicely now and the hole in the underside is all smoothed out. I've just used grey automotive primer from an aerosol can here.

Some more pictures recovered now...

Such a shame about the nail paint. I am sure you will rescue this though. I've never tried using this stuff, but your comment about the realistic scaled metallic finish is intriguing! I must try it. Is it enamel based or laquer? Great work on those little details.

Hello all, I wonder what people do to preserve decals. I once tried to apply a decal from a Tamiya kit that was about 10 years old and I just could not get it to slide off the backing paper. It was as though the decal had become permanently stuck to the paper. No matter how long I soaked it, it would not come off. Since then, I keep all decals in a zip-lock type plastic air-tight bag. I wonder if this will help. I have some kits that have been in my stash for well over 10 year (more like 20!), and I'm worried that when I finally get round to building them the decals will be trash. I recently saw a product called Micro Liquid decal film. Has anyone used it and would it help restore old decals? Please share any tips you may have on decal storage. Sonny Q

Fantastic job on those brake discs. Looks so realistic. What paint did you use for the body?
-
Lovely job on a beautiful car.

I never had any success using a hand drill as a lathe. I am amazed (and a little jealous), that this has worked so well for you. I must try again at a slower speed. Thanks for the tip.

Good start. What primer did you use?
-
Great to see the body in primer. You should be fine with the Tamiya primer - its good stuff. That red does look a bit bright, but then I'm looking through a computer screen, so don't take my word for it. Keep up the fantastic work.

The stance is indeed perfect. This will be a killer once finished.

Thats a really clever idea. Thanks for sharing this technique Greg.

This is going to be killer. I love that induction set up.

Good to see you back on this one Dann. I was begining to think you forgot about it. I'm sure the interior on this one will be another one of your works of art.
