  1. Both this and the Orange one, Rock. Way to build 'em!
  2. Re, the Slant Six Engine. The late Bob Paeth told me the same the same story back in 2008, that Tom Geiger tells. Oddly he also included the detail about Chrysler not wanting it back, that Alan Barton mentions. I think there is a nugget of truth in here somewhere. Bob P. was telling the story gleefully, finding humor in the fact the same Real Engine served as a model for both Revell and AMT.
  3. I have two MIB XR-6 kits waiting for me to get up the courage to tackle them. You build looks great. It inspires me to dig my kits out.
  4. That is the correct choice for the hood. Looking great so far.
  5. Bill, Thanks for sharing all the good advice about 'Runners. Would the Revell '50 Olds make a good candidate for a 'Runner build?
  6. I hope so. This Fire Truck will be my first ICM Model T kit.
  7. The ICM and Tamiya P-51 Fuselage have would mate exactly together. Even the location pins were in the same place. I've seen them test fit that way. There are differences though, I cannot remember what they were.
  8. James Warren lived across the street from us when I was growing up. (1974-1981) I remember seeing the sleek trailers that they towed the cars in. His garage wall was covered in the 'Peter Max" style March Meet posters that were all the rage back then. We lived on a Cul-de-sac, and when the races where happening, all the trucks, trailers and support vehicles (5 or 6 of them) would fill the thing. I remember my Dad getting Ticked Off because of all the noise and bustle. He was never very friendly , but I do remember looking at a couple of the race cars in his garage. They would sometimes work until late at night on the cars. Your build brings back many memories. Of Course the cars I remember seeing were all Front Motor, IMHO. There may have been some Rear Motor cars, but I don't recall them. Great Build.
  9. Sadly, Nate and James, It will just double the number of comments. As for it being a "Foose-mobile" well I can't stand his stuff. I think his taste his awful. But, I want this kit to be a Huge success for Revell. There are generally no more than one or two kits that Revell shows in each Quarterly Flyer that I like or want. And that's OK with me. The more of these Revell sells, the more profit there is to plow into Chevy Suburban's and Ford Bronco's. So while I don't care for Foose or his work, this partnership has the chance to sell kits of Hot Cars to folks who may not normally buy Models. And I am all for that! I will predict that by December 2017, the Foose truck will have outsold the 'Burban by a 3 to 1 Ratio. Maybe Brett can clue us in a year from on how the sales went.
  10. Thanks for the Help. The tip on the 55 Beds is one I should have remembered. Now I know where to start. Just have to acquire the parts and get cuttin'.
  11. OK, No Worries. I have a stack of the Gasser '57's and the Parts Mine '60's my self. They are worthwhile kits to have.
  12. Snake. If (a BIG if) the tops from the MPC '60 will fit, I have plenty of spares. Yours for the asking.
  13. I wonder why there are 4 small tires? Is there a trailer in there too? Are there 4 small wheels/rims as well?
  14. Thanks for the Info on stretching the Bed. I might look at the beds from two '53 Ford Kits. Maybe they will be close enough to pass for a '61 Chevy longbed with the proper fenders.
  15. Speaking of Parts Swapping, does anybody still make a Resin, Longbed, Stepside bed for these kits. I want to replicate a 1961 Longbed that I learned to drive in. If no resin is available, how hard would it be to stretch the Revell Stepside to the correct length? Alan
  16. I'll go with: "just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD" The front grille area is wildly out of tune with the rest of the car. These so called 'customs' are more like the much despised "Checkbook Modeling" fad of the late 1990's. Having a shop full of tools, and a rich (stupid) benefactor with no taste, does not ultimately result in great looking Hot Rods or Customs. Even Foose and Boyd only got it right about 50% of the time to my eyes. Too many of the cars I see written up in the Glossy "Me Too" magazines are just clones of one another. There is growing air of Over-the-Top Sillyness or at least Un-seriousness to so many of the builds seen these days. Not saying that they are built poorly or cheaply. Just saying that they are fundamentally lacking in the Grace and Intent that older Customs seem to have. Granted if you have looked at the old, old Custom Magazines from the 1950's and early 1960's you will see some definite clinkers there as well. But even then, there is a noticeable change in the attitude, and way they were built and conceived. Today's cars.... Not so much. Technical Skill is not a good substitute for a Visibly Inspired Design.
  17. Thanks for the pics! A great job on that build. I like the P.E. in the hood. Sweet little racer. Was it successful?
  18. You might try this thread for some ideas. Mike Laliberte's old Car Modeler Article, on "Treasure Trailers" using leftover Sprue from a Lindberg Dodge kit, might be a good starting point.
  19. Mike L's "Treasure Trailer" might be just the right starting point for the new Lindberg (Pyro) Boat kits. Now to get the Century Coronado Boat and one of the Dodge Sprues and do some measuring.
  20. All it needs now is a Fire Chief! Outstanding build.
  21. I really like where this is going. Keep up the great work.
  22. But, where's the Balloon? (sorry, could not resist)

    50 Ford

Man, it looks great. I don't normally like stock builds, but this one is sharp. I hope my own build of this kit, comes out looking as good as yours did.
  24. Mitch, That is an Outstanding Build! It that PE in the hood vents? I really like the colours. Got any more pics of the build? It has the correct Vintage Racer vibe, nailed. Alan
