  1. I have this one on the bench right now too! I'm using it as practice for scratchbuilding and modification. Your interior detailing is great. I think I may steal your headliner idea!
  2. Good old redneck fun. Despite the fact that it was cold last night (10 degrees C) we decided we should head out to the Monster Truck Throwdown at Castrol Raceway. Ridiculous, but a blast.
  3. Hi everyone, As a non-plane builder, I need recommendations from the experts. My dad just found this kit at an antique store. $10 CDN and was still factory sealed. As one might guess, the decals will be unusable. What are some good sources for replacements declas for airplane kits? Does anyone know if this kit has been repopped, or if there are specific decals already made for this? THanks.
  4. Because you have to keep the tradition alive!
  5. DId I read it right? 79mm of rain? That's over 2ft! Hope our Hawaiian friends stay safe.
  6. Excellent work! The whole package looks great!
  7. Found something interesting in my Twitter feed today. Classify this as "oops!" Yup! That is the green Gallardo posted above! Happened earlier today. With all of the restrictions and rules and instruction you get, and the fact that there are lead and trailing support vehicles, I really wonder how this guy got things so wrong. That car is incredibly stable at speed. Had it been the Ferrari, I wouldn't be that surprised. I had a good chat with the owners while I was there, as there are some business opportunities my company can assist with. He was mentioning their insurance situation. The Ferrari runs them just under $100k CDN per year to insurance. The Lambo and other cars are all under $190k CDN, so they are only about $40k CDN per year to insure. The Lambo and Ferrari require dashcam and interior cams in order to be insured. That means they have full dashcam footage of this incident. Would be interesting to see that.
  8. She's amazing. I've been a fan since she was with Femme Fatale and The Iron Maidens. Really looking froward to her solo album.
  9. Went and saw Alice Cooper last night. I've seen him probably a dozen times over the past 30 years or so. Somehow he just keeps getting better. This guy is now 70, and his show was better, longer, and more energetic than the last couple of times I saw him. His voice still sounds the same as always, even on the mellower stuff like Only Women Bleed. The theatrics are still there too, which is great. The guillotine, the Frankenstein monster that comes out, the psychotic nurse, straight jackets, swords, pyro, etc. I love that he still puts on a show, instead of just going out and playing. And the band. Man, they are tight. Alice has surrounded himself with a group of musicians that just click when they play together. The interaction with each other and the audience is just perfect. My daughter is 11 and this was her first concert. Along with all the teen pop music she likes, she's loves Alice Cooper. Poison is one of her fav songs, and she has comandeered my old tour shirt from the Trash tour.
  10. Got my other camera downloaded, so here';s a few more pics. If you want to see how truly tiny a new COrvette Z06 is, look no further. I am 6'6" and 250lb. Here is the lunch stop. I don't golf, but I'd be quite content to just hang out here. The support vehicle. Everyone was surprised at how well a V6 Grand Cherokee handled a group of exotics. Was never too far behind.
  11. If you're ever in Vancouver, BC I highly recommend this. Scenic Rush is where you spend a full day, driving high end sportscars up the Sea To Sky Highway between Vancouver at Whistler. I did this yesterday, and had a blast. Met up at 9:30, signed in, and checked out the cars for the day. Immediately discovered that there is absolutely no way I can drive the Corvette Z06 convertible. I knew it would be too msall, but I tried anyway. No matter how I adjust the seat, I could bot get to the point where I could actually use the windshield. And my knees were next to the steering wheel. Jammed in there like a clown car. Which is ridiculous. It's a big car, why they designed it with a wee little interior, I'll never understand. Quick safety meeting and we were off. First car for me was the Ferrari 458. Visual wow factor is off the charts for this one. I fit, but not comfortably. Had to slouch a little. An inch of headroom, two inches in length, that's all I need. The car is only a year and a half old, but I was surpised and how worn out it is. Interior window switch fell off, trim around the various knobs and controls are worn off, leather coming unstitched on the dashboard. The car is a blast to drive, and I think on a track it would really shine, but on road it was twitchy and does not inspire confiendence. Every bump in the road reverberates through the car, and upsets the handling. Not something I would want to spend more time in. Second car was the Audi R8. Shocked at how much I enjoyed this car. Definitely not the visual kick of some of these things, but wow. Beautiful to look at, super comfortable, and totally at home. Eats up twisty roads and feels good doing it. Very, very fast, with handling for days, and made some amazing noises. I loved this car. Want one. But with a manual transmission. Quick lunch break at the Nicklaus Ranch golf course, a wander around Whistler, then back in the cars. Car # 3 was a 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo. You know, if the Italians would design their cars for tall guys, they would sell more of them. Again, an extra inch of headroom and a couple of inches of legroom would make this much more enjoyable. As it is, I mostly fit, and thsi car was awesome. So much fun to drive. Sticks to the road, makes better noises than all of the other cars, and in lime green pearl, the wow factor was off the charts. And it was my son's fav of the bunch. Last car of the day was the Porsche Cayman GT4. Want. Want. Want. This was by far my fav car by a long shot. Not the fastest car here, but it keeps up. More importantly, it was the most fun. So tossable in the corners. And it was the only car with a manual transmission. Just peferfection in every way. If I had this kind of money, easily the car I would buy. Still need to upload some more pics. The only downside, our flight got home at 1:30am, ad I am borderline comatose at work this morning. Ah well, was worth it.
  12. Seriously, Greg and Ray. Why do we have five threads about Cobras? One big amazing Cobra thread would be just fine. As soon as I figure out how to merge five threads into one, it will be done.
  13. Looking good so far. Nice little peek at the Dodge it'll be hooked up to there too!
  14. Now THAT is a shame. Glad your kits aren't meeting a similar fate!
  15. F250 with a V10. That is a very rare beast! Especially considering that it isn't completely rusted out!
  16. I've been volunteering at the Edmonton Humane Society for aboth three years now. Quite often they have "sales" on adoptions. Pay what you can, fees waived, $20 specials. Usually when the shelter gets really full. It's a no-kill shelter, so every now and then, a celarance sale is required! Lots of off site adoption events too. That's what I was up to yesterday. A few volunteers, an EHS staff member, and a few animals, set up and adopting. The two kittens we had there found homes, but somehow Dexter did not find a new home yesterday.
  17. It's been a while since I've been at the bench. Over a week. But today, the family went out and I had pretty much all afternoon to play with plastic. Started a new project, my first attempt at doing real modification. Lots of cutting, measuring, etc. Felt good!
  18. Welcome to the board! Excellent job! And you take great pics too!
  19. I don't understand why a jet car would be put on a short oval like that.
  20. US Walmarts have kits? I've never seen a kit in a Canadian Walmart.
  21. lolz My parents still live in the house II grew up in. The next door neighbour (who my mum is constantly annoyed with) is the neighbourhood busy body. Anything goes on, she'll know. My mother in law has one of those too. Sits by the front window and watches everything. Which I guess is a good thing.
  22. Yeah, the kits are a little easier. I have one Yodel and two of the DOH cars. The seatback was the first thing I noticed when I was looking tghrough my Yodel box. Easy fix though, as you have shown! I'll end up doing mine as an RCMP unit. And one of the DOH cars will be a replica of my dad's old 77 sedan.
  23. Took this a couple of weeks ago. That is a new Nissan Rogue with a dealer plate hanging off the back. The other car is a 2018 Volkswagen Golf, also with a dealer plate on the back. The VW dealer is across the street. That building on the left is the Nissan dealer. I'm guessing this is not the preferred way to demo drive new vehicles!
  24. When we went out to play, we'd leave before 9am, we showed up at lunchtime for maybe 20 minutes, then weren;t back until dinner. We would spend literally all day roaming the neighbourhood, and roaming our entire town. Our parents had no idea where we were or what we did all day. We were never really asked to check in with them and they were never worried. Not that they let on anyway. Cars were left unlocked all the time, and it was rare that anyone ever messed with these unlocked cars. Vandalism was a rarity. Our town is still not that bad. Our kids are fine to roam our neighbourhood, and we don;t worry too much. Of course, they now carry cellphones with them, so contact and updates are easy.
  25. Such an amazing singer. Many years ago, when I was doing my teaching practicum, the school I was in held an airband contest. So the other student teachers and I felt that it woulkd be fun to perform something. They left the song choice up to me, and the visuals were left to them. So the three girls thought it would be funny if I dressed like a woman and they dressed like men. So with a wig, makeup, a dress, and some enhancements, I went out and performed Respect. There's video somewhere.
