Not a Hammond B3, but you could pump out some rather cool jazz on that thing. -
How does your family deal?
kitbash1 replied to Jeff31293's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My wife still say's that I've gone to play with my toys. I always shoot back that at lest I have a hobby, unlike her father who's hobby was smoking and drinking and just being an all round jackass. So, I have zero support from family. -
Ferrari 333SP by Perry's Resin, wow!
kitbash1 replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yes, he did master the whole kit. He also turned the aluminum wheels. I think he cast the white metal parts as well, but I'm not sure on that one. I have two of these kits. One to build and one to maybe sell one day. I also have one of his 962 trans-kits as well, which he also did the masters for. -
Full on Insane. Love the Side-cars and Super Karts when they run.

cutting resin question??
kitbash1 replied to oldr-n-drt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You can use the back of a #11 blade just like a plastic body, or you can use a scribing tool . But ( there's always a but ) you need to go slowly and lightly with resin. Too fast and a heavy hand will cause problems. -
Tamiya extra thin cement

I have never had any problems with the Hypo cement. Maybe you left the top off for to long. -
Tamiya extra thin cement
kitbash1 replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've always used Watch Crystal Cement ( Hypo-Tube cement ) to glue clear parts. This stuff never fogs. But I might try this CA type glue the next time I have to buy glue. -
Congratulations. I hope that you enjoy every minute. I'm pulling the pin in April of 2018 myself, looking forward to it as well.

Revell Full Detail/Glue NASCAR Kits
kitbash1 replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nice looking kits. But those tires look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. They look too tall and square, instead of being rounder at the side walls where it meets the contact patch. Maybe the aftermarket can come up with a correct resin replacement. -
I liked her as well. She struggled to find work after Happy Day's ended. But like most child stars, she seemed to have problems with drugs and the bottle. She did try to get her life together, but it looks like her demons got the better of her. Be at peace Erin.

Use Chevy Engine Red. That's what RCR used.

It's been a tough month, I lost my mother on March 5th. She was in a long term care facility for the last two years. When she passed it was hard, as my brother and I cared for her for 6 years before it got too much for us to look after her in her home. Then Harry passed. I only knew him through emails, but I had been following what he was going through with his sickness.since he let us know about it. This has made me stop and think about my life , really think. I've come to the realization that life is short and time is even shorter. I've made up my mind that in the spring of 2018 I'm going to retire and start spending more time doing what I want to do instead of what my employer wants me to do. My wife is being forced to retire from her job after 37 years with the same company, so this will work out fine for us as we can now spend more time together and start to enjoy life on our own terms .

Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
kitbash1 replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This news is so sad. : ( -
I bought a sheet of decals back in February of 2012,They got lost in the mails and my money was refunded. Well they showed up in my mail box in December of 2016. It took the USPS and Canada Post 4 years, 10 months and 45 days to get my decals to my door. Beat that one.

This is my summer car. It's a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible, with a 3.4L DOHC and a 4speed auto trans. She just had a new cloth top installed last spring.

Wow! Cudas, Darts and a Sunbeam Tiger too. Chevy Nomads in the mix as well. God, Maybe I should take my inheritance and buy the place. Then again, the wife might have something to say about that. -
Fauxberglass for Thin, Strong Repairs
kitbash1 replied to Snake45's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
When I worked in the printing trade, we had phenolic resin gears in the roller train on some of our sheet-feed presses. These made the gear train run quieter and eliminated gear streaks in the print. -
Interesting topic. It depends on what you have in your stash. I needed to sell off my 1/12th scale kits a few years back , because I came to the realization that I didn't have the space to display them all. I had 40 kits from Tamiya, Protar and Revell. I sold them all to a local collector who is into F1 in a big way. We sat down over coffee and came up with a fair price. At the end of the day I had made money on my kits as well as a new friend.
