I did not open them but they're molded so nicely, they almost LOOK open. I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to do it though.

It's actually a nice kit, if somewhat inaccurate, still I built one and it turns heads! I think Trumpeter model car kits got a bad rap which caused them to stop making car kits. I've built this, their Nova and 3 of their Falcons, I like their car kits!

I also love this kit! I did a mild custom with a laid back, chopped windshield! I DID foil along the fender tops, like "Jolly Sipper" said, thin strips cut on the sheet, then applied. Cheers and enjoy building this cool kit!

That looks interesting, LOVE that drawing on the instructions, build it and show us how you do it! Ciao!

Dino, what did you use for the linkage and fuel line fittings? I had to look at your picture a few times to see if it's a 1:1. Great work! Fuel lines are guitar string, it stays straighter than beading wire, which is also good for many things. Fittings are the outer coating of thin wire, just cut, glued and brush painted, not really great but they do the trick in 1/25th scale.

Fat Austin, I love it! I've always wondered what I could do with that Shelby kit's chassis, and you've done it! Sweet!

Great job, I've done a couple of these, they're not easy! This one is the 426 Max Wedge, but the intake set up is the same.

Man that is looking cool and those exhaust tips are perfect! You should make some tiny ANSA decals for them! -

I love what you're doing and this will be a stunning model. Too bad the resin is so terrible! I wanted one but asked for photos of the actual product, then declined due to quality, or lack of it! I am excited to see how your's ends up, as I already love it! Ciao! -
Wow, that's stunning!

Greg that's a great tip and as you can see other builders are already using it as an inspiration for their own building styles. Some kits interior engraving is ridiculously shallow, basically non-existant! Adding some dimension to door cards always enhances the look of a scale model, from toy-like to cool! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us!

There's always been a lot of criticism of Trumpeter car kits, but I've built half a dozen of them and they turn out looking very good actually. The chrome was actually chrome plated over copper, and some kits had more of an aluminum look, so they sent free proper chrome trees out, or included them in later issues. The hardtop Pontiac was criticized for having the roof too short, front to back, so many people swapped a proper '61 or '62 roof from AMT or Revell, convertible, no problem Here's my Pontiac build, right out of the box, trunk mat is only paper:

Man I'm diggin' your build of this fantastic car! I stalled with the doors, did decide to remove the door cards, but still struggled with hinges, put it back in the old box. Can't wait to see how you make hinges, I'll try to copy! LOVE the Countach, mine though is the LP400. Cheers! Or should I say CIAO!- 363 replies
