  1. I would go for the idea posted by Richard and Brian above, that of a dry-brushing technique. A single color straight from the bottle will never give you that appearance. I see a light yellow-greenish tan base, allowed to dry, covered with a thin flat gray, either dry-brushed (acrylic), or flowed on thinly (enamel) and dabbed back lightly with a paper towel until the look is achieved. I find it helps when re-creating something in scale like this, it helps to squint at the surface of your reference to filter out the distraction of thinking too much about WHAT it is, and focus on how it APPEARS. ( Lesson from my painting professor! ) Military hobby paints would be where I would start my search. Experiment first on scrap or even card stock, and show us what you get!

    1936 Ford

    A real beauty!
  3. I've tossed around the idea ever since I first saw that episode; it cracked me up the way the salesman delivered the word "Thundercougarfalconbird" Will be interesting to see your interpretation.
  4. Wicked. What color/paint did you use? It's perfect for a muscle car.
  5. Really nice 'stang. Well done.
  6. Beautiful model of an elegant automobile. Very nicely detailed and clean interior. WELL done!
  7. 400 holes blasted in his plane, and all he had to worry about was the flu!
  8. This will be fun!
  9. Both are very nice looking. Well done.
  10. So much fun to watch!
  11. Get yourself some cheap pastels, Mungyo makes a decent set or two, and rub your chosen color on some very fine sandpaper to make a fine powder. ( recommend 600 grit or finer) use a Q-tip to drag the powder across your wing in airflow direction. This makes realistic stains, and the pastels work great for weathering of all kinds. Some apply a sealer, but I prefer the more realistic look of the "stain" on top of the finish. Yes, you will have to touch it up occasionally if the model is handled much, but worth it IMHO. Important note: pastels are NOT oil pastels, but dry, chalk type. Here's a set that will last you years: https://www.amazon.com/Mungyo-Pastel-Color-Square-Chalk/dp/B010MZ9ISW/ref=pd_sim_201_17?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B010MZ9ISW&pd_rd_r=8d2cf136-0fe9-11e9-ae26-cff8d3fcce0e&pd_rd_w=WPT6r&pd_rd_wg=3Wafi&pf_rd_p=18bb0b78-4200-49b9-ac91-f141d61a1780&pf_rd_r=1TA2M77224CPGTDEA5H0&psc=1&refRID=1TA2M77224CPGTDEA5H0
  12. Nice technique on the faux wood. Really enjoying the care given this build.
  13. Funky cool finish!

  15. I know, it can be tough to decide. I personally would err on the side of more satin than flat, just my choice. Given the age, or lack of, I just don't see them getting too dull under normal conditions, HOWEVER, you raise a good point about field applied finishes and less than ideal conditions and/or supplies available. The photos above BOTH seem to show a satin-ish finish; the first photo less so, but if you notice, it is taken with overcast skies (there are no clear shadows on the ground beneath the plane) and the tail panel still reflects pretty well the available light. Second picture is in full sun, with clear, dark shadows falling. Still fun to ponder!
  16. Oh that is wicked. Some planes look mean; this one and the Heinkel 111 are just menacing sitting still!

It's like a super-detailed Tom Daniel kit! Love the imagination and execution. Well done.
  18. Interesting stuff! You've got me thinking about a bare metal 262 now. That would give the futuristic jet an even more futuristic appearance that had to send chills down the spines of allied airmen who encountered her in the air. Your build is looking sweeeeet, keep it coming!
  19. First thing I noticed, too, is the flat spot on the cam lobe(s). That's a pretty sharp demarcation between the side of the lobe and the top of the lobe.
  20. Very appealing model; just beautiful. Great stance, sharp engine, and correct color! Well done.
  21. Really nice! Nothing at all wrong with how those wheels work on that car. Well done.
  22. PM me if you need a set of those seats some time.
