  1. That's a great looking kit, where did you find it ?
  2. You are doing a great job replicating your Hilux. I have been following along and enjoyed how you have created all of the details and off-road features. We did some Wheeling here with a Jeep Wrangler for many years so looking at some of your exterior equipment I sometimes wonder the whys and wherefores of how you mount some things. I notice the Antennas seem to be mounted on the front bumper or brush guard. They also seem somewhat larger in diameter than the CB style we usually use. My thought is these might be to also push back tree branches from the windshield on the trails.
  3. I like these cars so I'll look forward to your build. The Hood Scoop idea you might look at some of the MoPar styles used on the Challenger or Cuda'. The dark Bronze wheels sound like they would look well with your color.
  4. If you have a chance think about trying your colors even without primer on the bottom side of the interior. I'm a big fan of using primers, but your trying to get a darker shade and maybe, just maybe spraying it over the black plastic may work in your favor here. The dashboards and console are a plastic material and were semi glossy and the seats were a fabric that would be flat and a little on the furry side so you actually want a ruff flat finish on those.
  5. The hood redo looks like you got a good match to the body color.
  6. First off let me say I have nothing up the up most respect for Mr. Shelby and all that he accomplished in his life. A tid bit about the first Mustang 350 GT that I ever saw. The Ford dealership in Riverside Ca. had one on the showroom floor and was having a hard time selling it because of the price. Had I known then what I have come to learn as life went on is that I have hated myself for not having the good sense to have bought it at the time. As I recall it cost about as much as a loaded Air Conditioned full size Ford. Two different type of buyers but you can see why it was a hard sell at the time.
  7. The interior color that Chevrolet used was just slightly brighter than the material in the Monte Carlo SS of that time. Tamiya offers a few shades of red and I think that might be a supplier to consider. Their Maroon Red would be to dark and their Bright Red to bright, so something in between. This would apply to other brands as well.
  8. Great looking black paint job. The Foose would be proud.
  9. Sorry, it's just that you do used up so well. This build is turning out so nice I wouldn't change a thing. Looks great, maybe a tow rig for a new car dealership ?
  10. I was a Barrington Broncho in the late '50's until leaving for California in '61. Small world isn't it ?
  11. That could be. The rear view that I'm thinking of had the upright fins with a slight lean out word at the top. The rear bumper was replaced with a side to side opening much like a front grill and had some sort of a mech and some chrome bullets that were the style of the time. I'm sure there are members here that may have some of these parts at the bottom of an old parts box somewhere.
  12. Great looking color and finish. I like the stance cleanly done trim.
  13. As I recall, since it did make an impression in my young mind, the main picture is a rear 3/4 view as the big thing seemed to be the extended rear and larger fins.
  14. The fit of the glass on these kits is poor to say the least. On the last one did I added some small plastic stripes around the opening that would look like the black rubber moldings on the 1:1 and that seemed to offer just enough to fill the gap and give a gluing surface for the window.
  15. The nice thing about the 427 Fairlane is that with a little work you could recreate the 390 Fairlane that was a big seller for Ford. I look forward to building an Olds 442 or maybe even a standard F-85.
  16. Great looking paint finishes and clean looking trim. I didn't know that there was a kit of this car, who made it ?
  17. Beautiful looking build. I like all the fine details on this.
  18. Great looking body work here. When this kit was first offered the custom parts along with the chopped top option looked very much like a show car that was in Rod & Custom Magazine from that era.
  19. Great looking blue Merc builds. I remember some good spray can paints that WalMart had but they were a littl "hot" and you had to have a good primer to protect the plastic, but the colors were outstanding. The color you're using should show the body lines well and work with the flame decals. I used this paint on a couple of past projects and the finish looked almost like a light Meatal Flake type finish which I really liked.
  20. Great looking Chassis. I like the lightening holes in the front side rails.
  21. Well deserved recognition of this build.
  22. Nice fit on the taillights. Some chrome foil or paint in the back of the taillight bucket may help lighten the lights up a little if need be. I like the stance.
  23. Thankyou for the info. A great wealth of information.
  24. That is why I stopped watching the program years ago. The guy is a walking talking encyclopedia of facts about the MoPar products of old but his antics cancel out all of the great parts of the program for me anyway.
  25. I haven't seen models at any of the Youall marts in the greater KC area. This maybe an east coast test market program.
