Picked both of these up off of FB Marketplace tonight for cheap. Both are complete and unstarted. The decals in the 1/12 are water stained but for the price, I'm not complaining.

Later-

Went down to the Niles Hobby Lobby with my final (?) 40% off coupon and after some looking, finally picked out the MPC Godzilla Jeep. Went to the checkout and after I bought it the nice lady gave me back the coupon, saying I could use it tomorrow.

Frankly, I'm more inclined to laminate and frame it, and hang it over the workbench tango_face_grin.png.b87513a82f60770dd01e47144f64c185.png.

As for the kit, has anyone tried converting it to a 2WD DJ-3 Dispatcher? I'm thinking of doing that and swapping in an Olds 215 V-8 from the Jo-Han F-85 since I simply can't leave well enough alone enjoy a challenge.

P.S. They also had Mr. Super Smooth Clear Matt Finish spray this time - looks good in the YT video; anyone tried it?

I went to a local Hobby shop and picked up some aluminum tube that I use to make differentials. Then I went to another local HS and picked up some brass rod to use for pins. I am tired of searching through junk to find nails or wire to use! I didn’t make it to the third local HS that I buy most of my stuff from. I try to buy as much as I can locally so they will stay in business, even if I pay a bit more. I picked up this razor saw at Michaels...it was marked down to $5.00 from $15.00. It has finer teeth than the Exacto I have and cuts real nice.

Lastest eBay scores: '68 Falcon glue bomb and '62-'64 Nova body.

'66-'69 Falcons in any condition are going for just stupid money these days. All things considered, I considered this one a steal at under $30. Biggest problems of course are the cut rear fenders, the hole in the hood, and the missing rear bumper. I THINK I can solve these problems and take it back to stock, or stock-ish. Plan B would be a Day Two or wild street car, and Plan C is a gasser.

The Nova body (not sure yet if it's a '62, '63, or '64) seems to be perfect. The orange paint is so nice that if I had the painted hood, I'd give serious consideration to cleaning it up, removing the decals and “restoring” it as-is. But it'll get stripped and rebuilt, probably after I try to take silicone molds off the lower rear quarters to use for “un-altering” some '65 Rat Packer bodies. Might have to get another copy of the new '63 wagon kit just for an organ donor to finish this jewel out.

One of those kit breakers on eBay had a Falcon body alone that went for more than $50. Good score

A couple of ebay purchases arrived today. The monogram mercedes was dirt cheap (pic from th internet as my one is too faded to get a decent pic off) cos i was the only bidder and the italeri escort I got so I can use the bumpers on my cannonball car. I also received an amt 49 merc and jimmy flintstone hirohata mers in a trade here.

Might I suggest one of the Jeepster kits for the Buick V6 instead. Same basic block but the heads and valve covers are more accurate are more accurate.

I imagine gasser would be the easiest way to go and would be pretty cool. I wonder if the previous owner had his pet rat work those rear wheel wells.

I got a Meng Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in the mail today

Anyone got a source for  beefier wheels and tire set??....the kit ones are pathetically thin IMHO and coming up blank on eBay

[...]

I've rented Jeeps in Ouray CO and Moab Utah, was very impressed.  Resisted temptation to get a kit, so many cool accessories to scratch-build.  Fireball Motorworks has a good selection of tires, and wheels, and LED light bars, and farm jacks, and winches, and .......

When I saw these wheels on eBay, had to think about it, looked around and saw it's not readily available, then showed up just before the end of the quiet bidding war, and sent my bid 20 seconds before it ended.  Already had the kit and photo-etch parts, so someday I'll open that kit.

I have gotten some from Scenes Unlimited. They have a nice selection with dimensions listed on their site.

I received my order from Off The Sprue that included 4 Recessed Domed Air Cleaners and 4 Flat Top Air Cleaners and 3 sets of 4 ignition coils, all made from machined aluminum. These are fantastic looking, and well machined pieces, and I am very happy with the quality. He has some other great looking items available and I encourage anyone looking for custom pieces of this nature to check out his stuff. He also has a youtube channel (Mark Dunlop) with some great builds and in-progress vids that showcase some of his items,
