I have looked through all the resin casters I have in my favorites file and cannot find the tires I am looking for. I know they exist because I have seen them somewhere. Looking for Goodyear Suburbanite mud/snow tires, the bias-ply style from the 50's & 60's. Also need some open wheels to fit these with a 4X4 front hub. Anyone have any suggestions? Also have in mind to convert the Revell Ford F-250 truck into a 4X4 dually, but need older style wheels, again 50's-60's. I have an idea for the 4X4 conversion kit, but then again the wheels and tires are an issue. Any help will be appreciated.

Simply an awesome piece of work. Everything about this build just screams perfection. Great job.

I realize many do not frequent Michael's for kit-buying. However they will occasionally have an older kit I am looking for and they do have a 40% coupon when using their phone app. Over the past few days I have been in two different Michael's and their kit shelf is completely bare. Both stores had only three car kits and maybe one or two airplane kits, plus the shelf space has been drastically reduced. I have bought several pilfered kits at reduced prices from one of the local Michael's stores. I am beginning to wonder if maybe they are going to quit models altogether? Anyone heard anything?

I have picked up a few from Hobby Lobby, they will put them on sale for 50% off quite regularly. Their selection is very good.

Just completed a great trade with Larry Ray, very satisfied. Quick shipping and excellent correspondence.

Very well built 57 Vert; and it is not the typical red that so many are. Nice color choices.

Really good looking weathering and as said the six-cylinder is a different addition. Kind of concerned about the exhaust dumping directly on the rear tire; the heat might change the air pressure and affect handling.

The future of offroading?TarheelRick replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) Driving across the backyard to unload a couple bags of playground sand is considered off-roading to many people; and of course you need a lifted, 1-ton, diesel, dually for that. Now back to this electric truck. I am sure they have some kind of seal around the electric motors, but one on each wheel and a 36" fording depth just seems to spell disaster. I have found very few electric motors that work very well when submerged.

Outstanding work. Really like the stucco look on the building walls, and that El Camino definitely needs a bit of TLC.

Wow, you are a real licensed plastic surgeon. That is some intricate work you are accomplishing. Really like the overall look. You mentioned not liking the look of the rear fenders, to me they look a bit long behind the wheel openings. Of course that look may be exaggerated by the fact the bed has been shortened. Anyway, whatever you decide to do with it is going to look good. Keep on doing what you are doing

'34 Ford pickup street rodTarheelRick replied to Can-Con's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Beautiful hot rod. That paint combination really sets it off. Leaving the light bar off makes it look like a completely different truck.

Absolutely one of the best Mustang builds I have ever seen. The paint and overall finish is superb. Quick story - I knew a guy who owned one just like this one, totally rebuilt on a rotisserie, lots of dollars expended. The local Ford club was returning from a show, he was between two other Mustangs, a deer ran out and creamed the right side fender. Needless to say he was not very happy. However he whipped out his wallet and got the parts and had it fixed.

Revell Ford GT Le Mans, 2016 GTE Pro WinnerTarheelRick replied to Jhedir6's topic in WIP: Model Cars The original Ford GT was IMHO one of the most beautiful cars ever built - it was sexy, powerful, and just exuded performance. Now this one comes along and shatters that opinion.. Looking forward to your build of this gorgeous beast. Those are some really nice, crisp separation lines on the paint.

I agree with Andy. It does work, but not as well as the old standby purple stuff. But it is cheaper and readily available at many corner convenience stores.

Barris '70 Impala (finished interior 16th December)TarheelRick replied to geetee66's topic in WIP: Model Cars I got to buy some stock in Tamiya tape company if you continue to build such beautiful artwork. I have seen similar work in shows and am completely in awe of the intricacy and beauty of this type paint job. You did one fine job, sir.

Ruler, right angle suggestionsTarheelRick replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers Mine is a Carl RT-200, it has a 12" cut. I have had it for seven or eight years, used it primarily for paper cutting early on, but have been using it on the model bench for the past two or three years.

Super build of one of the ugliest cars ever produced, right up there with the Pontiac Aztec.

This is one sweet Monza, and as has been mentioned your attention to detail is phenomenal. For the wiper squeeges how about some .010 styrene sanded to fit?

Ruler, right angle suggestionsTarheelRick replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers I also use one of the rotary paper cutters. Just bought two new blades for mine - one full cut and the other a scoring blade. I have a T-square, but do not use it very much, it is rather long and bulky.

Post retirement modelingTarheelRick replied to misterNNL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) I am quickly approaching 70. Have been semi-retired since 2012. I retired from the USAF 29 years ago today (woo-hoo), so I have that piddly pension. Bounced around for a few years in public work before getting the call into ministry. Church politics got the upper hand so I walked away from it in 2012. Now I drive a school bus and am tentatively planning on retiring from that after the 2020 graduation class. Right now I am in a building slump. I have three active builds on the bench, and about 8-10 more in boxes on the shelf, plus around 200 more waiting their turn. As most of you have stated I continue to buy, knowing I will not live past 165 to be able to build them. There are no kids to leave them to, I am the final one in my family tree. Have been trying to downsize the collection, while at the same time am planning on expanding my work area. Right now I am using a corner of the basement, but my lay-out is less than ideal. I am having some work done in the basement to alleviate water seepage during heavy rains and that will require me to dismantle the area I am now using, which is a perfect excuse for rearrangement of the work space. Hoping that will motivate me into getting back to the bench. Of course the honey-do list continues to grow exponentially as I get closer to full retirement.
