I think I will agree, the braided lines look rather modelish. If it is indeed a model, it is very convincing.

I have used my rotary-paper cutter on styrene for years. It cuts the thin stuff normally with one pass, some of the thicker sheet requires a couple passes and maybe even having to snap it. Just ordered a new set of blades for mine, got a cutting wheel and a scoring wheels. Haven't tried the scoring wheel yet, but I believe it should work quite well on the thicker stuff.

That is a might fine looking headlight. Also a very well presented tutorial. Thanks for sharing.

Salt Flats Belly Tanker
TarheelRick replied to AL.'s topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Really love those belly tankers. You did an outstanding job with this one. Sure wish some enterprising soul would kit these. -
Issue #208 is in the house. Very well done, especially like the Tool Time section. So glad it is back in circulation.

The ingenuity of modelers is amazing. These are some simple, but very useful ideas.

Chevy Pickup 41 - Revell
TarheelRick replied to Zoltan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Really a fine looking build, also love the idea of a "real motor" being used. One suggestion for the bed inner fenders is to use the front inner fenders from an older late model chassis. They could be cut to fit - at least I think they would work. -
Just scanning through this and came across this post. I get my prescription meds through the mail. Two of my prescriptions earlier this year were also shipped DHL and sat in Raleigh, NC, one for 22 days and the other for 16 days. When I talked with my local USPS, since both were to be turned over to them for delivery, they verified there seemed to be a problem with that company and the Raleigh distribution center. Going to get a bit political here - blame it all on COVID.

Just finished a great trade with Ken "BigTruck". I really appreciate the communication and ease of trading. Thanks.

Need guidance ungluing built vintage kit
TarheelRick replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have had fairly good luck with the freezer method. Wet the model pretty well, place into a zip-lock bag, and freeze it for a couple days. Doesn't work all the time, but it is a less destructive attempt than a hammer and chisel. -

This is my small collection, not really sure how many - somewhere between 250 and 300. Pictures are just a sample -

Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Great job on the build. -

I really miss my '72 Westphalia. I kick myself everyday, traded it for a 78 Rabbit - what was I thinking!! -
Using a model to help build a 1:1
TarheelRick replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is why I build models, because I cannot afford the real thing. You all have some really good looking 1:1 projects coming along. -
Very nice save an an iconic hot rod. I'll bet that one whistled when it went down the strip. Also wonder how it got through tech inspection with that fuel tank on the running board right beside the driver. Looking forward to more of your saves, keep'em coming.

Definitely a different build. I really like what you are doing with this one. Never been much of a Batman fan, "Spidey" was my hero.

Good start on this one Sam, looking forward to updates. I actually think the ob used a wire brush rather than 220, the 220 would have been smoother. ?
-
Can't tell you had any problems. Looks like a driver to me.

Are you sure that engine shot is not a 1:1? The detail is outstanding.
