  1. Model T's are a lot of fun! I've never owned one but have worked on a bunch of them. While limited by where you can drive it, a Model T is one of the cheapest old cars you can buy.
  2. Very nice build!
  3. I'd be up for any and all of these! I'd love to see a 66-70 Falcon too. Not holding my breath on that one.
  4. My wallet is quite safe this month!
  5. These are the only ones I have pics of. Have a few more packed away. All 3 are pretty much box stock, the Merc has a flathead instead of the Cadillac mill that came in the Revell kit.
  6. This '53 Buick hardtop snuck into my neighborhood. With PA tags, he's a long way from home!
  7. When I was younger I was big into the cruise in type shows. Drove either the Model A, '62 Galaxie Convert or the '61 Corvette. Nowadays I seldom go to any, it's usually the same cars in the same parking spot month after month- at least the ones around here. Pretty much same reason I quit going to swap meets, not much interests me. My tastes skew towards older cars and most cruise-ins around here look like buy here pay here car lots.
  8. Just finished re-reading Astronaut Michael Collins' book, Carrying the Fire. One of the finest astronaut autobiographies written. In my opinion! I first read it 10-12 years ago figured it was time to give it a revisit. Started in on a book about the Avro Lancaster by John Nichol. Like his other books it is well written and isn't a dry history book, it's more of personal accounts of the people that flew the aircraft. Recommended if you're into WW2 aviation like I am.
  9. Nice! Dig up an 8yr old thread and post nothing but a pic of box art?
  10. There's good & bad in every hobby. I was heavily involved(and still am to a much lesser extent) involved in the world of C1 & C2 Corvette restoration. You'd have one guy with a cobbled together '74 Coupe with hardware store fasteners & Summit chrome valve covers acting like an elitist know it all, while another guy with a Bloomington Gold & Duntov award winning '55 Corvette that's the nicest guy in the room even going as far letting you drive that very car "because you bought a round of beer the night before". I dated a woman very briefly who was into the dog show scene big time. What you describe is what I noticed as well. It was a real eye opening experience. Setting up obstacle courses in the yard for the dog competitions, traveling 100 miles each way so the dog could do jumps in the water then turn around and drive 100 miles back home. Ended up breaking it off with her because of the dogs. She had the nerve to bring up my model hobby. I told her "They don't eat any groceries nor do they dookie all over the floor if I don't get home in time.
  11. I recently unloaded about 100 kits from my stash. Of course that means I'll end up buying 200 to fill the holes on the shelves! I build aircraft & space aside from cars, lately I've been doing some soul searching coming to the realization even if I did build everything, where would I display it?
  12. There are a couple Model A Sedan kits, but are 1/25. AMT 1928 Ford Tudor - can be a hard kit to find but they do turn up with patience. Revell/Monogram 1931 Ford Tudor - never seen a stock version of this kit, but using parts from the 1931 Ford Woody Wagon kit you can build a stock Tudor Sedan Hubley/Gabriel/JE Scale Models - 30-31 Fordor/Town Sedan. This is a metal kit and scales out around 1/20 I believe but it's the only game in town if you want a Fordor Sedan. As Casey mentioned, the old Entex/Minicraft '31 Tudor Sedan in 1/16 scale but these are getting hard to find. I'd love to see all the old Entex Model A kits reissued. I restore 1:1 Model A's and like to collect the Model A kits to go with the actual car.
  13. Thanks for posting the pics! They confirm that I need to pickup(get it?) a couple of these when they hit the shelves.
  14. Nice work! We don't see enough early cars being posted here!
  15. Very nice work! I like these old Pyro kits. The real Coupelet Model T is a rare body style....
  16. That firewall is for 30- pre June '31 when they moved the fuel shutoff valve from inside the car to under the hood. 28-29 is different, and even then there are two different firewalls for 28-29, dependent on body. I thing Greg's method he posted would work quite well!
  17. Great video! They really packed a lot into a small venue. I got there around 9.30am and left by 12pm, it was mobbed at that point.
  18. Rode out some industrial areas after the model show today. Found a few goodies.... I'd love to have that Super Cab '76 Ford F-250.
  19. Hit up a local model show/swap earlier, photos in Show coverage forum. Didn't get any car kits aside from these 2 old Pyro kits for $5, bought solely for the nostalgia factor as I had both when I was a kid. Did hit the ten strike on adding to my Space & Vintage Airfix collections tho!
  20. Never seen the AMT LevaCar kit in person. I thought the paint work on that '58 Impala was exceedingly well done...
  21. Didn't know about this show until a few days ago. Primarily military, but managed to see some nice car entries. Here's a few photos. I didn't bring my regular camera, so excuse the poor quality cell phone pics!
  22. I'm in for the Bomarc as well. If the Atlantis version doesn't have Canadian Markings, let me know. I've got a couple extra sets from the Revell reissue I won't be using. The Sealab is a project of CultTVMan, I'm tempted to grab one!
  23. Goes nicely with the heavy orange peel in the paint!
  24. Just saw this on the Rocketfin website......
  25. At my place on the east coast of FL there are zero LHS within a 50 mile radius. There is a small LHS on the west coast of FL that I frequent, and his prices are quite good, cheaper than Hobby Lobby even with their 40% off. I recently had him order some Airfix kits for me, and he treated me right on those too. I buy from him as much as possible. I've said it before on this forum, I can't justify paying $30+ for a kit that's been out for years & reissued numerous times when I can go to a swap meet/model show and find the same kit for $10-15. About the only thing I order online are aircraft & space kits, I do most of my buying at shows & swaps.
