Hello Everybody! Just a quick update on the Super Trebuchet. Wheels Down! The directions called for the wheels to be glued directly to the axles. Unfortunately, there was too much space between the wheels and axle shafts for any type of adhesive to bond properly so I secured the wheels in a more prototypical fashion. With linchpins! I drilled the axle shafts (5/64" I think) then trimmed wooden toothpicks to an appropriate length and inserted them. And since they're held in place by friction, there's no need for glue! I think this looks better too. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to offer any comments or suggestions. David G.

I'm not familiar with that part Russel but I did find a suitable looking fan in the ole parts box. Are you working on an Ecto-1 too? If so, do you have any pics posted? I'm glad somebody got the joke! Thanks for your kind comment Steve, I appreciate it. David G.

Good call on the interior color, it seems the natural choice. The wheels work well too, nicely done. David G.

It looks great so far Jim. How did you manage to paint it, did you build a jig or rig of some sort? David G. -
Thanks for the suggestion and the compliment Joe. I don't have anything like that in my parts box but I'm sure I have some old cooling fans in there. There might be one that's suitable. I think that one of those would probably be too big Scott, the opening is only about 13mm across. I was also thinking of fabricating a fan from thin aluminum stock, like from a soda can. Just scribe and cut a circle then trim and shape the blades. It should be pretty easy... in theory. Thanks Chris, I appreciate that. I'm afraid I don't see a slammed pickup truck but I am working on converting the Ecto-1A back into a hearse, here's a link. I have the frame mostly completed but I've sort of hit a wall with the interior. Working on this Ecto-1 has given me a few ideas and some inspiration. I plan on cracking back into the conversion one when I get this done. I also have another Ecto-1A that I may convert into a flower car to go with the hearse but I want to get the hearse done first. Thanks Everybody for the suggestions. I honestly didn't think of raiding the parts box but that's a great idea that could save me quite a bit of time. David G.

Looks like it's just off the trailer, I can almost smell the fresh factory paint. Well Done! David G. -
Of all the excellent work you've done on this, the engine bay stands out the most to me. When adding detail in this area, the biggest trick is getting everything to look properly in scale and you've managed to nail it in that respect. Well Done Sir! David G.

The interior came out fantastic! I like the magazine too. The wheels should look great on the car. I really like the Bug too. You're right, the gray looks perfect. David G. -
Hello Everybody! I've been spending some of my bench time working on the roof carrier. There's one main feature that I've decided I just can't let go unaddressed. This... Thing. My research indicates that it is supposed to be an HVAC unit. Which makes sense considering that all the vintage computer equipment on board would require some cooling to remain functional. It's difficult to find a photo of what the unit is supposed to look like. This one is close to canon but from what I can make out from the movie stills, the motor in the center should be white or light metallic, maybe aluminum like a motor casing would be. So here we go, jumping down yet another rabbit hole! Now that the damage is done, I need to make a motor housing and find a way to mount it using wire supports. I also have some ideas for a fan to go under the motor. Suggestions are always welcome. As always, thanks for taking the time to look. David G.
