  1. Great detailing in the engine bay, excellent paint and foil. Spectacular Work! David G.
  2. Beautiful paintwork and detailing, could easily pass for 1:1. The wheel covers are a great idea. David G.
  3. Hello Everybody! In getting ready to assemble the main deck, I discovered more warpage. This makes two of the two main structure pieces that have had a significant warp. As this is really the first wooden model I've built, I don't know if this is unusual or just the nature of the beast. I was able to "weight it out"... for the most part. The main frame uprights were composed of four parts per side and were assembled lamination style. Thankfully, they were straight and mostly square with the deck when assembled. I think there will be enough flexibility to allow for some tweaking if it needs to be trued up as assembly proceeds. And still, the warp. ? The wide tolerances of the design seem to allow for some variation so I don't think it will be much of a problem. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
  4. Thanks Bob. I agree, the engineering was astounding and they were quite formidable weapons. David G.
  5. Great work on those A-pillars! Most people don't consciously notice subtle details like that but all those subtleties add up to create an overall greater impression of realism. David G.
  6. It's a bummer about the paint issue, did you manage to get that sorted? The chassis looks great, I love all the detail work you've put into it. David G.
  7. Dann, I am continually amazed at how you manage to accomplish so much so quickly and do it so well! It usually takes me a couple of months to build a kit from a box with the minor mods that I usually do. And here you are scratch-building a chassis and body in just a few days! Just. Wow. David G.
  8. Thanks for being where you are and doing what you do Dave! There, now it's no longer a "Thankless Job"! Regards, David G.
  9. What a great pair of Volksies! I honest thought that the first photo was of a 1:1 Baja Bug in a parking lot that you were using as inspiration for a replica build. The rust effects on the other one look great! David G.
  10. That's one great looking Gasser! The engine is almost half as big as the whole car! ? David G.
  11. The hood scoop is a good call, it works well. Since you asked.. The paint looks great but it seems to me that there is too much of it. It needs something else for contrast, especially if you're going for a Seventies build. "Euro White" and other monochromatic themes were more of a Nineties thing. The Seventies trends were much more bold, to the point of being garish even. Think of the Mopar High Impact paint colors. So maybe some bold graphics or a stark black and white interior with a black vinyl top. Of course you could go with a full-on Nineties custom Euro White style. The tires you're using would lend themselves well to that. But whatever you decide, make it yours and enjoy the build! You have a great start and a gorgeous looking paint job to work with. David G.
  12. Hello Everybody! I did manage to find a suitable fan in the ol' parts box. I did have to clean it up and paint it but at least I don't have to scratch build one. To mount the fan I started by making a back plate for the base of the roof carrier. I then measured and eyeballed the center of the hole onto the base plate below. I then drilled a hole on the mark to accommodate a 1mm styrene rod on which I could mount the fan. It did require a bit of fiddling with the baseplate to get the fan properly centered but I'm rather pleased with the results. Now I need to come up with the motor and its mounting struts. I also painted the frame of the carrier along with a number of the other equipment pieces, which will be seen as the build progresses. Thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post your comments. David G.

  14. Nicely Done! David G.
  15. Good choice on the interior color, looks good. David G.
  16. How cool! It's almost like an automotive dress form. Great idea for the wheels too. David G.
  17. Thank you Simon. It's been a fun build so far. I'm hoping to get this finished by year's end. David G.
  18. And so it begins! Beautiful work so far! That mockup is amazing. David G.
  19. It's nice to see this one finished. I remember the paint issues you had, the repaint came out exceedingly well. David G.
  20. I have my ticket, got it punched, I'm climbing aboard and strapping in! David G.
  21. Great color choice! Nice paintwork on the trim too. It's a shame about the BMF, I have a couple of sheets that I ordered earlier this year. I hope I get lucky with them but I fear that I won't. David G.
  22. Both are excellent examples but the black and white one is particularly striking. David G.
  23. Good choice, it looks lean and mean. David G.
  24. A nice, clean and tight build. Looks Fantastic! David G.
  25. Thanks Kyle, I'm a fan of them myself. I'm really curious to see how far this one can throw. David G.
