Hello Everybody! I decided that I want to add Proton Packs. After all, they're almost as iconic as the car itself. Even though seeing interior detail will be a little difficult after assembly, I feel that the model just wouldn't be complete without them. After some searching, I found a very workable pattern at Starship Modeler: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/rv/kr_pax.htm As a practice run I first made one example using card stock. I also wanted to see if card stock would be a suitable material to use for making these. It's not. I then printed out four patterns in scale and using canopy glue, affixed them directly to some scrap sheet styrene approximately 1mm thick. I gave the glue a day to dry and started cutting and filing. After a few building sessions, here is the result. Now I have to make up the ancillaries and attach them and do a little detail painting. Then I'll start on building the racks and gurney. That's all for now. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.

Check to make sure your vent is not clogged. A lack of air movement could cause the lint screen to plug. Also try rubbing a dryer sheet on the lint screen, that may help by adding a soap-like coating to the screen.. Good luck, David G.

Everything else with this build seems to be going so well that it must be extra frustrating to be fighting so much with the paint. I've found that there a couple of paints that just don't seem to work with my painting style. I say this because other people seem to make these paints work with little or no difficulty but I just can't get them to cooperate. For me, those brands are Rustoleum and any Testors in a spray can. Rustoleum has great colors but I think their cans are designed for spraying lawn furniture rather than detailed plastic models. The paint sprays out like it's coming from a garden hose. And Testors? Well, their big problem is inconsistency. Every can of theirs I ever bought and used was different than any other in terms of paint thickness, coverage, density and propellant. And their spray enamels take weeks to cure, even here in Phoenix during the summer. I try to use mostly Tamiya paints either in a jar or can. When I painted my Charger I used Tamiya TS-22 Light Green over a black primer. I think it's a pretty good match. Color sanding and a respray should work but if if it comes to a complete repaint, you may want to give Tamiya spray cans a try. They're like an airbrush in a can. Regards, David G.

I finally got all caught up on this one and all I can say is "WOW!" Absolutely astounding work as always Dann! Museum quality even. Every time I follow one of your WIP threads, I end up learning quite a bit about scratch building and model building in general. Thank you for taking the time to document and post your builds. As usual, nice work on this one Bob. I like that there is a bit of a rake to the stance, sort of a nod to custom trends of yore. The interior looks great, nice detail painting. I might have gone with a dark blue for the carpet rather than black, just my own personal preference. Nice engine and chassis too. David G.
