SPOTTED! Experimental 58 Plymouth Cuda concept car...
espo replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
Very creative design and the paint finish is great. I'm glad you mention all of the different bits and pieces used since it would be almost impossible to backward engineer this one. -
Beautiful looking build. Great era correct colors also. I agree with everyone else, your setting for the pictures really add to the look.

Any new car models coming from Moebius next year?
espo replied to GMP440's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A friend of mine when we were in HS had a 2CV with the rear mounted water cooled 4 cyl. The gas fill and the radiator fill were both in the rear. I don't remember exactly which was which, but I think the radiator fill was between the bottom of the rear window and the engine cover. The gas fill was in the engine compartment. He always had to stand guard so that the proper fluids went in the correct place when ever he got gas. -
This is a great looking little wagon. This is perfect for the surfing scene.

Don't tell Round 2, it will ruin their whole ad campaign for Coca Cola. -

Glad to see you're back on this one. The firewall may need even a little bit bigger relief for the valve cover clearance. The bed floor looks outstanding, are the metal strips going to be painted or chromed ? I also like the painted wheels with the white walls. -
I like how the under side of this has come together. You paint detailing of the exhaust connections look good. You mentioned problems bending your exhaust system. Since there is no sharp bends you could use hollow plastic tubing and insert a brass rod into it. This will help hold a shape when bending the exhaust and wouldn't require any heating. Your getting real close to the end and I have enjoyed watching your build.

The ridder looks almost as interesting as the bike.

Thank you for your opinion and the link. I went back thru the link and enjoyed see all the contributions from others and how you put this together. The discussion on the fuel filler reminded me of what happened at the old Riverside Raceway when I was working for Union Oil Company. One of my duties was to help at the Union Station inside the pit area and this was around the '69 and early '70's race sessions. The fuel was supplied at no cost to the teams and we were even putting racing fuel in the race tracks support vehicles, some may have even spilled into my personal car. During one of the SCCA meets a guy rolls up to the pumps in a '67 or '68 Mustang. He had a quick fill in the middle of the trunk lid, roll bars in the interior and looked very much like any other Mustang that was competing that day. The driver gets out and tells use to fuel the car which we started to do. All of a sudden he starts screaming to stop fueling. Turns out he was just a "poser" looking for a free tank of gas and the quick filler just went into his trunk which now had about 5 plus gallons of race fuel floating around in it. He was sort of person that sort of had it coming anyway. Just thought you might enjoy the little happening from the pits. -
I think you might be able to use the flame decals from the Revell '32 Ford 5-window coupe. The kit is from their Special Edition series 2 in 1 #85-4228. Your build is looking dead on so far.

Ya I was starting to worry that McNally was MIA or something. I like how the "carpet" turned out.

I realize you're building a specialized version of this Falcon, but I was wondering what your opinion of the kit would be to build a mainly street version. -
Sounds like a great upgrade on the hosing front. Sounds like with all you had to do on the new place you should have tried to get something going with HGTV or one of those Reno Series for TV.

Congratulations on a long and happy marriage.

As Dave Van pointed out " Each project must pay for itself before moving to the next" Seems like a lot of their fine Ford pickups are selling well so hopefully the next project will be soon. -
Great looking color combination. I like the low stance .

On the Coke issue. When I was a youngster my parents wouldn't allow me to drink Coke or any other Cola drink at the time. To illustrate their reasons they put a piece of meat in a container of Coke much like you did with your chrome wheels. The meat lasted about as long as your chrome did. I think I was old enough to drink Beer before I was drinking Coke. Turns out I prefer Beer anyway. -
What sort of material are you using for the headliner ??

One of my favorite old Ford model years. I look forward to your build on this. I still kick my self for not buying this very body style '40 model when I had a chance many years ago.

I have to agree with you on the roof change. This looks like how ford should have done it. Poor old Edsels never got any respect but done in this style they really look great. I like the more contemporary two tone paint work also.

Galaxie 1948 Chevy Aerosedan - fitment issues ?
espo replied to 1959scudetto's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm glad you were able to solve your problem with your build. I mentioned an issue I found with the frame and the floor contact point that I corrected. In my mind that may have been something you and 1959 Scudetto may have been having problems with as I was. The channel in the floor part where the frame rests didn't align correctly and this was making the front part of the frame drupe enough to open a gap on the back edge of the hood were it meets the firewall. I would like to see any pictures of your build if you post them. -

I just set the body of mine with the fenders held in place with tape and set it down over the chassis and the brake drums appear to be centered. I'm not sure pictures would even show the mounting points I mentioned. I could take a couple of pictures tomorrow if you think it would help. -
Great looking Patina finish.

Another beautiful looking build. You're right about the '60 Starliner being a great looks car. I have always wanted a 1:1 myself.
