Can't find a website for that outfit.

They're on eBay Stores and Facebook.  Bestmodelcarparts is run by Mike Hanson.  He and his family used to show up for NNL West in Los Angeles and other shows.

At one NNL show, Mike described how he mastered his '50 Olds station wagon. That was a lot of fun to hear.  He used highly modified parts from several existing kits and some scratch-building.

I'll remember that.

Maybe I can goad him into producing a few more sets for some of the old annuals that I need gauges for that he doesn't already offer. ;)

Steve

I have supplied Michael with various kit dashes so he could produce gauge faces and get them the proper size on a few occasions, so there is a good possibility you could do that.  All he needs is a kit dash and a good image of the gauge faces for that particular car.

Michael has attended and sold his products at shows in Southern California.  He will be at Spirit of Speed show in Pomona in November.

Are you thinking of SoCal NNL?  NNL West is in Santa Clara.

Yep, SoCal NNL.  The one held at the boys' home in Chatsworth every spring.

Arrived today. This is my second of these but this one is complete (my other had flaking decals and no tyres) I was lucky to get it for less than half the price they normally go for as it was listed as ertl with no mention of esci. Does anyone know if this had 2 releases? this one is molded in blue, but my other is molded in a very dark blue/almost black. I could possibly let one of them go if someone has an ertl farm plough or trailer kit (built up or unbuilt) as I have a few tractors to build and the scale difference wouldn't be so obvious with farm stuff

Does this kit differ from the current Escort Mk2 that's available? Arches look different if nothing else.

This one came in today's post. Had some minor damage to the slender roof pillars but looks like it should be OK. Will probably end up as a fast road/trackday toy.

Also, I got these early on in lockdown in exhange for some diecasts:

Decals useless with both, but otherwise they appear to be complete and undamaged despite the boxes being in a bit of a state. Revellution has been partly started, basically the bodyshell assembled. Other one includes the body parts from the Jawbreaker version.

Not entirely sure what I'm going to do with them yet.

Yes, this one is a circuit racer, I've not really done a good comparison between the 2 yet but i believe the engine has some differences too. I think it might end up getting a cossie turbo engine when i get ot it. Also it has bbs rims

I was honored to have been able to participate in the first ever Desert Scale Classic virtual model car show and contest.

Unlike most of the shows scheduled during this COVID crisis that were either canceled or postponed, the guys in Arizona decided that the show must go on.

I decided that it was a perfect opportunity to participate in at least one show this year, and I didn't even have to get out of my Lazy Boy to do so. :D

I was extremely honored and very happy to have been awarded a 1st place in the factory stock category, as well as a "Master Award" for best interior for my '68 Olds 442 W-30.

I also received a 2nd place plaque in the Street Machine category for my '65 Plymouth Fury.

The plaques arrived today.

Thank you to the judges at the DSC V16!!

Nothin' too exciting...just a clean copy of the February 1969 R&C for the Shalako article...

I had completely forgotten it ran a Porsche 4-cam 4 cylinder from an RSK. Wow. That's probably a hundred-grand engine today.

Big bonus is an old-school junkyard-based buildup of a Chevy 350, pulling an honest 440 streetable HP on a single Holley, with the heads I already have.

There's a thread elsewhere bemoaning the demise of paper car mags, and boy damm...looking through this old mag, there's at least 4 times more hard-core greasy hands info than in anything still being printed.

Stupid me, back in the late '80s, I dumped all my old car mags. I have a pretty good set of early Hot Rod again, but occasionally buy R&C, R&T, C&D, and especially Sports Car Engineering.

Congratulations on your achievements, Steve!  The awards were well-earned. Your Fury was killer and your 442 W30 was just exquisite!!!

Actually, you - and all the other competitors - honored us by participating.  We had a blast and we’re extremely gratified that dscV16 was so well received!

No pictures because Canon software stopped working after last Windows 10 update and I can't d/l images from the camera/card. I obtained the following kits in a bundled purchase:

AMT 6566 1966 Buick Skylark GS. Complete and unbuilt

AMT 6525 1965 Buick Wildcat Annual

AMT 6623 1963 Pontiac Bonneville HT Annual

Johan 2560 1960 Olds Scenicoupe

Johan C-1266 1966 Plymouth Fury HT

Johan C-1967 1967 Plymouth Fury HT

After I received them on Wednesday, I thought it over and decided that I really don't need them. Buyer's remorse, I guess. :D So, I'm considering my options to dispose of them.

Good on ya Steve.

I would have entered something but didn't know it was open to internet entries.

Seen posting on the spotlight board that said something about DSC V16 and codive 19.  Just thought it was more codive BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and by then I was sick of hearing about it so never opened the post or looked at it more closely.
