Never used the clear, but the base coat goes on like a dream!

Hard to screw it up.

Just like any other metallic paint, an air brush with a wide pattern will give you the best results.

I debated not getting the clear, but the Presidential Blue is going on a resin body and I didn't want to add another variable to the equation.

Got this yesterday on the way home to add to the stash. Off of FB Marketplace for $10. Open but complete. Only the engine halves glued together.

Picked these up today at our New Ollies in Johnstown NY. Well stocked with car and truck kits. Might go back tomorrow to see if I missed anything.  A bit bummed because I bought the 1969 GTX only to find I have the same kit with different box art. The single pic is the one I already had. I really hate that they change the box art but they are the same models. Over and over again.

Got the Roadster yesterday from Hobby Lobby. Ordered the 57 Chevy gasser from ebay a few days ago, and it arrived today.

Interested to hear what you think of the gasser kit - I’ve been thinking of building one of those…

The Dirty Donny is molded in black and I believe the one from Ollies is molded in grey or white.  Make a spread sheet of what you have or keep a few pictures in your phone and you can flip thru it when you want a kit bro..

Order from Plaza Japan arrived today, stocked up on my favourite Aoshima Nissan skyline's and got a 430 Cedric for something different.

You certainly do like the C210/211 Skyline!

I have one or two, recently got a 4-door and a late C110 for the nice OE alloy wheels they came with - I want a set to create a close replica of my 1:1 Laurel C230.

Four resin bomber seats in 1/24 from a local supplier/maker. Already painted one seat grey and will try other colours.

'66 Buick Wildcat from Round 2.  As I mentioned in the Hobby Lobby thread, at HL this kit is priced at $24.99 instead of the usual $29.99.  The 40% off discount brings it down to $15.89.

Since we may see price increases in Round 2 kits soon, it seems like a good time to pick them up at lower prices while I can.

As some may know, I’m kinda hung up on the ’32 Ford, specifically the Revell series of kits, which I use for what seems to be an endless series of Old Skool modeling projects – on the order of at least one every 6 months. Ridiculous, I know… In any case, this means I’ve always had to maintain a stash of these models not only for their bodies, but for all the chassis and ancillary parts that go into these projects. Things can get pretty unwieldy as I pilfer parts from a new kit and eventually need to buy yet another kit just because I’m out of small but critical parts like headlights and headlight brackets or frame rails.

A couple of weeks ago this amazing offer came up on eBay:

Quote

Monogram 1932 Ford Coupe / Roadster Model Junk Yard. Molded White. Up for sale is a collection of Monogram 32 Ford Three and five window coupe and roadster parts. There is probably enough parts to build one of each kit, MAYBE! I can not say that for sure. These models were purchased for the wheels and tires to be used on other kits. So there is no mag wheels or tires. Please take a look at the photos. What you see is what you'll get. I have shown them in the box they will ship in. Thanks for taking a look.

The seller did an incredible job showing what was in the box. Actually, there was far more than he showed but his effort was first rate at showing the nature of what he was offering.

The opening bid was $10.00 + $20.00 shipping. Needless to say that, with at least three 3-window coupes, three 5-windows and four roadsters along with 9 chassis and countless full and partial parts trees it was worth a shot. It would be a long time before I would have to buy a parts kit if I prevailed. There were 14 watchers so I hoped that the bidding wouldn’t get silly or I would have to beg off. As it turned out we were all very disciplined and the first bid only showed up with about 12 hours to go and most of us held are fire until the final minutes.

Obviously I got it, and a week later a huge box showed up on my doorstep. As I said the photos, only some of which I posted below, didn’t do justice to what was in the box. I would say for a typical part that is shared by all the versions, such as a rear axle or small size front headlight, there are at least 14 examples included, and often far more. The only downside is that the seller had the odd habit of super-gluing the chassis to the fenders or body when first mocking up his project. And, as it turns out, he didn’t glue lightly. I haven’t been able to find a way to break these apart. (After some internet sleuthing I found that I could debond the fenders using MEK and this afternoon I liberated the four fendered chassis.) But no matter, this stash is enormously useful. The only versions missing are the Dan Fink Speedwagon and the Tudor. In many cases there are whole chrome trees that are sealed in their original bags, but, as the photos show, there are just as many trees, chromed or otherwise, that are well picked over. However, on the basis of shear volume who am I to complain? My needs are supplied for some time to come!

Of course the plastic trees themselves generate a huge storage problem so I’ve spent time over the last few days breaking them up and classifying and bagging individual parts. I should be able to get the results stored in 3 to 4 standard model boxes.

Picked up my copy of the MPC Racer's Wedge at Hobby Lobby today for $19.79 plus the state's cut. I also got an 8 oz. bottle of Anita's Gloss Black craft paint for $2.99. My Hobbylinc order came in yesterday containing two cans of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear, a can of Tamiya TS-87 Titanium Gold, and a bottle each of acrylic clear red X-27 and blue X-23. I also grabbed two cans of Krylon Short Cuts Gloss Clear (my initial test of this clear was very favorable) and a can of their Flat Black to try for $2.79 each at 30% off last week.

WoW!

That is an amazing find. I purchased a similar looking bunch of 32 parts, so similar infact that I had to go make sure mine were still there. ?

MEK you say ? I need to look into that for the same reasons.
