Got this with a gift card from work last year. Been meaning to get around to building it. Over all it's a pretty nice kit. However, the stripes are a nightmare to put on and are a little too long. I built this over my Christmas vacation time, finishing it up this morning. The original plan was to get both cars in the 2 in 1 kit finished, building a hot rod coupe and stock roadster pickup straight from the box. After looking everything over, I decided to go this way with the coupe, I will modify the stock roadster into a 60's era street rod with an Olds V8 from the AMT '40 Sedan. More on that as it progresses, but it will be built similarly, without wiring, etc.

Here's my finished version of the Moebius 66 Ford F-100 short bed pickup which is based on the second round test shot. The tooling is about 95% ready to go at this point and final test shots should be available shortly. Colors I used are Rangoon Red over Wimbledon White. Still waiting on the decals which will include some scripts which are missing from my build up. Moebius is shooting for the first release to be before the end of the year, most likely it will be the 66 Flareside version. Look for a display of these kits at the Detroit Show coming up next month. -Steve

Here is a scan of a fuzzy photo from the 80's Some pics of the engine before changing to more "factory" options. Dual quads and manifold removed, going with single 4-bbl carb setup The body is already soaking in the purple pond, but it doesn't seem to be having any effect on thirty-something year old car paint, going to have to use brake fluid. Comments welcomed.

The first time I tried to build a NASCAR kit was 1987-ish. At 11 years old and having no idea that automotive spray paint would craze unprimed plastic, it didn’t go so well. Fast forward to five years ago when I picked up a box lot of six of these 1980s vintage Monogram T-Bird kits. After selling off five of them, I kept one and went to work on the build. After a couple weeks I lost interest in it, so it went back into the box as a partial build. A few months ago I was anxious to clear out some old works in progress, and this one was at the top of the pile. A good bit of research revealed how inaccurate these mid-80s T-Bird kits were, but it looked decent on the box art so that’s what I aimed for. After body prep and primer, it got a few coats of DupliColor Ford Oxford White. Having just got my hands on some of the new Tamiya LP range of lacquers, the red sections were masked and shot with some LP-7 Pure Red. The decals were the 35 year old sheet from the kit, but despite their age they finally went down decently with copious amounts of Micro Sol, a plethora of foul language, and many walks around the block to calm my nerves. After that hassle I didn’t want to risk using a hot clearcoat that might react with the DupliColor or Tamiya lacquer, so it was the first time I used Future as a final clearcoat finish. Despite the kit’s inherent inaccuracies, helpfully pointed out by some great model builders who have built these over the years, the end result makes a nice shelf piece. I was so pleased after all these years to have finally finished a NASCAR kit that I’ve already started work on another.. well, maybe two more.. you know how that goes.

I just finished this one before the end of the year! ‘78 Courier “Minivan” by AMT. I struggled with the body paint finish on this one and ended up stripping it twice. Still some issues but it looks good on camera at least, and I can call it done 😂. There’s some final fitment issues with this kit, but considering the age of the molds and the multi-piece body, engine bay and front end, it comes out ok. If you have the patience I’m sure you can get this thing square. The body is Testors Extreme Lacquer Turquoise, with primer black interior and Tamiya TS-26 Pure White on the seat, wheels and bumpers. This kit comes with tons of custom and stock part options and three sets of stripe decals. I chose the custom camper shell/bed and the front fender flares, but I left off the goofy snow plow-like custom front air-dam so I had to trim the front flares to go with the stock fascia. All of the options make for a fun kit to design however you want! Thanks for looking!

Starting way too many projects at one time again. I was thinking that I could build a tribute to my cousins f-250 custom that he bought new back in 1973. I remembered 2 Dremel bits that I had that make the job a snap (right?). Well, I quickly regretted starting that. Turns out you need a much mor stedy hand to pull this off. I only finished one side of the cab and now I had to go back and put filler to correct all the inconsistencies in my snap chrome removal. Bad idea.

At least I have good front and rear bumpers and a hood for the other one I got recently. This one may turn into a custom because of the dead frame, dead glass, and burn mark on the body. We will see if the old paint comes off or not. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

Box pics, contents, and instructions here I have been trying to get one of these for a long time, but they were always too expensive. This one was about a third of the price of the others. I am getting a new release 65 Modified stocker for the parts I'm missing like a stock 289 engine, radiator support, and hood.

I think these are annuals because they have the four ribs molded to the tail light lenses, I just have to figure out how to paint them. A bonus with this one is the full set of 1962 Ford Galaxie hubcaps, they will go on my stock build of a 62 Galaxie hardtop I got. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.

Thought I should post something regarding the '30 coupe 3D model I have been working on. Back in 2010-11 I modeled a '30 as a modification ("mod") for the video game Grand Theft Auto IV. It was a lot of fun, but after a while I realized the model was sitting around on my hard drive, effectively abandoned. I dragged it back out to try and convert it for 3D printing, after noticing that apparently the large-scale market lacks a '30 coupe option. During that process I discovered lots of things that needed tweaking. My skills are limited, but I've done my best to get 'er fixed up. The body is currently up on Shapeways in 1/8 and 1/16. My pockets aren't deep enough to order one myself, but maybe someone else will take the plunge. Comments and feedback are welcome -
1989 Ford Mustang GT ‘Vert in Light Gray (Smoke) 1/24 Monogram

It has been nearly a year since I finished a build, but it’s nice to finally have another lump of styrene for the display shelf. This ‘89 Mustang GT was started early last year and after making quick progress on the drivetrain and interior the work stalled for a while as other builds and shiny objects grabbed my attention. The body was prepped and primed, then doused with some vintage DupliColor Ford Light Gray that I’d spotted for 99 cents at Ollie’s about 10 years ago. It was a color I remembered from the 70s and 80s and just needed a build to suit it. After the color and clear coats, it was sanded and polished before mating it with the interior and chassis. These 80s and 90s Fox platform Monogram kits are rather simple yet I prefer them to the MPC/AMT variants of the same era. I remember buying the first version of these when it was released in ‘87 as The New Monkee’s Mustang. That kit incorrectly had the pre-‘87 interior, engine, and chassis but the body seemed more accurate for the ‘87+ than the MPC version of the GT Hatch that was also just hitting the KMart shelves. Later releases of the Monogram ‘Vert like this one corrected the interior and included a reasonably accurate updated 5.0 HO with F/I. This later version also had an accurate decklid luggage rack that the Monkee’s version lacked. It went together relatively easily without much fuss. The most challenging aspect of these kits has always been the simulated louvered taillights. If Monogram hadn’t penny pinched, they could have molded the tails as two or three piece units with separate lenses and louvered covers. As they are, however, it makes for a tricky and stressful bit of work to get them reasonably accurate. It could be worse, though, as the MPC/AMT kits had the entire lens/louver units molded into the body. There’s a great low mileage example of this car and color combo that a quick web search located, so it became the reference for the build and its details.

Just finished Revell's 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. I used a custom mixture of Decoart Jack O' Lantern Orange and Folkart Lipstick Red for the color ( I was going for Calypso Coral, I think I got pretty close) and cleared it with Tamiya TS-13 Clear Gloss. The same colors, but with a slightly different mixture, were used for the chassis. The interior is just Apple Barrel Black with Pledge brushed on the seats, dash, and door panels for the sheen, while the woodgrain is all kit decals. The hood was painted with Krylon Short Shots Flat Black with a quick polish of Novus #2. I used BMF for the window trim, brushed on Molotow for the grille trim, and added heater hoses, ignition wires, door locks , and valve stems for extra detail. This is a great kit, although I wish the interior were a little more detailed, and everything fit together very well. I may have to buy and build another, lol. Thanks for looking!!

1964 Ford Snow Cat Van - For Sale Having the right vehicle makes all the difference in the world in wintery conditions, and you would be very, very hard-pressed to find a better one than this 1964 Ford Falcon Club Wagon. Actually, to be honest, it’s a mashup between the Ford van and a 1974 Snowcat, hence the tracks, and it’s done just as we like. The van body is in beautiful shape and the 302/C6 automatic powertrain is intact. ... Is there a Snowcat model? -
Here’s my ‘79 Pinto Cruising Wagon! I added a custom panoramic moon roof, smoothed out the window filler panels as best as I could, and I swiped the surf board and surf decals from Revell’s ‘32 Ford “Rat Rod” kit. Otherwise it’s box stock. It’s painted Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf outside, Krylon “Pimento” inside. This kit was definitely a challenge but overall it goes together pretty well!

After loosing out on several full detail AMT Ranger kits on eBay, I gave up and picked up this promo kit for $10. I was hoping to just do some quick detailing and not repaint the whole thing, but the plastic was discolored around the door mirrors for some reason. Also the splash graphics were stickers and looked way too toy-like in person. I repainted the body in Tamiya X-13 Metallic Blue with XF-56 Metallic Gray for the bumpers and flares. Not much else to it! Hopefully Round 2 will re-release these at some point, I’d love to do a full build of the step-side Splash version!

My goal is to build the worst Foxbody I can imagine. I'm starting with AMT's 88 GT kit. I am using a few unused bits from a 90LX that Revell released, I recently built as well. I will be scratching out whatever I need to complete the vision. Enjoy... Went into primer... I am going with a targa roof instead of T-Tops. I was having trouble getting the lower front valance so i cut the whole clip off and worked these pieces together. This is how the real car is built, so I figured nothing would look funny once it's all together. The fog lights have beaten out of their housings and the airdam is far from aerodynamic. This thing will be several colors, so perfection isn't my aim here. Scribed the panel lines, worked the dents into the body with candle heat. I'm giving this hog beast the big cowl hood to clear what I believe to be a stroked, nitrous huffing Chevy motor. This heap will be a fully neglected death trap, complete with improper safety equipment and unsafe components. Peep these bald 4 lug OEM front wheels... Sure it does 11's but the only thing holding it together is a thick coat of grime and rust... I've seen 1 foxbody in my whole life that had a stereo in it. The glovebox latch is broken and the passenger door panel is long gone. Got some color laid out and I am going to keep the patina for now. Focusing on interior, I found a grant style aftermarket wheel that was screaming for a trip back to the 80's. Scratched out a ratchet shifter and some nitrous tanks. Color and Style... With the tall valve covers I believe this to be a stroker setup on a 350 cast. Wired and plumed all the bits as best as I can tell. Manual brakes, no A/C, no power steering, cut the heater lines, so not much needed under the hood... I scratched out the harmonic balancer, alt bracket, serp belt, plug wires, wet shot intake and brake lines. It's running shorty headers, and I had to reverse the oil pan instead of modifying the K member 🤫 But it all tucks in nicely. It's going to have electric fans, but I'm having trouble with the core support fitting properly. Can you spot the coolant leak? This is where I am now. 7 months and counting...

Anyone have a source for a reasonably accurate 1/25 Ford 223 "Mileage Maker Six" 6-cylinder engine. Bonus points if it has a 3-speed manual tranny attached! I'll be needing one for an upcoming Edsel project, and can't think of a kit which might have one, off the top of my head. I figure someone here can point me in the right direction! Looks like the 215 and 262 are all the same basic engine/block etc, with just different bore and stroke, so an of that family of engines should get me what I need.
