  1. I built this a long time ago from a glue bomb. I believe it's the MPC one.
  2. The box says Miniatures Auto De Collection made in France. I'm guessing it was a small quantity made. I was not familar with the brand but it seems like a nice kit that is over 20 years old.
  3. Looking good so far. I just picked up this little gem last Saturday. Thanks Brad.
  4. An easy way to participate is to build the 1/32 Monogram 70 Mach1. It's a snap kit with only a few parts but the end result can look quite impressive.
  5. The Revell Shelby and AMT are at least a few decades newer than the Mach1 and 68 Shelby which have origins back to the 60's, thus they have a better chassis and interior. I'm not that familar with the Cougar but I think it's somewhere in between the others. Good luck on finding the missing parts.
  6. Nice score Gary. I have the old Aurora GT40 and the Revell reissue. It's not a bad kit really if not somewhat limited in the versions you can make with it.
  7. Good catch. That's true for any 65-66 Shelby.
  8. Very nice kitty. The engine is also great for doing a 1/25 Mustang Boss 302.
  9. If you want to paint the stripes use this as a guide. Basically the stripes are wider on the roofs and narrow towards the front and back. I bet a lot of people did not know that. Those that do will respond they did.
  10. Very realistic and superbly done.
  11. I'm guessing plain old Testors gold. I need to repaint the stripes as I built this one over 30 years ago.
  12. Nice find. Perhaps you can use a side mirror (or two) from a Monogram kit and anything else that is missing. I have the Super Snake and since there is nothing comparable I bought it but do not remember what I paid. I think it was part of a bunch of diecast cars from an auction and I got lucky. There were no boxes but the price was right. I have to laugh at people asking $900 for these on Ebay.
  13. I like this kit for it's realism and relative simplicity. My only issue (no fault of R/M) is the hood stripes look great on the sheet but will not cover the hood scoop without some wrinkles. The ones I built I painted the center stripes. My prayers to the modeling gods have not been answered for a 1/24 kit of a 71-73 Mustang. Somehow we got a 69 Shelby fastback and finally a convertible but as long as those old MPC molds are still around and they can sell enough I'm stuck with a 73 fastback without even the correct decals. My apologies for going off topic. Good luck with the resto - I have about ten unbuilt 65-66 R/M Mustangs and Shelbys.
  14. Yah it is no longer a girly man car. (Spoke in thick Austrian accent). . Good job Cobraman.
  15. Takes the concept of each part or assembly is a model in itself to a whole other level.
  16. 1971 because a few years car went from cool to lame and the good used ones were cheap due to high gas prices and rationing. By 1972 compression was lowered, unleaded gas was just around the corner, and insurance rates were going up. Big blocks were making their last stand before being detuned an only put in trucks and land yachts. The 426 HEMI and Boss 429 and 454 and 455's were becoming dinosaurs so this was the last hurrah for decades. In hindsight I wish I found a 71 Mustang instead of a 72 but back then at 18 owning a Mach1 was not so bad even if it was down on power a lot. I still managed to get a lot of tickets anyway. To be able to able to go in the garage and turn the key in a car I have had for almost 40 years blows my mind but I would not have it any other way.
  17. Hey hey. Any wrecked muscle car is sad to see. I would imagine doing a Corvette is a whole different ballgame.
  18. A little weird but hey - it's what the hobby is all about - FUN. Very very nice. I would not be surprised to see it in a contest issue down the road.
  19. Could be the jackpot or booby prize. Scotch tape does not make it a sealed kit. Pictures of the contents are a must.
  20. Looking good Jason. There is a MAMA meeting on Saturday in Greenbelt. Bring some of your builds.
  21. Thanks. If I can get one a month done that's three.
  22. Do we have an official start date. I am slowly making some progress on a few I already painted but no where near to finishing one much less ten.
  23. Two thumbs up. Someday I'll do a European rally version with the oversized lights.
  24. The good news is the is finally a model of the purple Milano Mustang. The bad news is it's about $120 and is in 1/43 scale.
